Can I play and efficiently use this card if there is no eligible target?
I mean if my vehicle is targeted by a card effect and I use punch it the effect jumps to a different target. What if there is no other eligible target? Does it comes back to the original one?
I believe this only works if there is another eligible target for the enemy card effect to be redirected to.
You would be correct. The event card forces the opponent to choose another eligible target vehicle unit to be targeted instead. If there are no other eligible targets than the original target would still be targeted. This card is the smuggler version of the Koiogran turn
I believe you can play it, but not efficiently. The "if able" clause means that if you don't have another eligible target the event does nothing. But if I recall correctly (a questionable prospect at best), the "if able" also means you could play it with no other eligible targets, just to get it out of your hand, if you so desired.
If there isn't another eligible target, this event can't be initiated since an independent aspect of this effect can't resolve. FAQ 3.6
Ah. I thought the "if able" got around that rule, but I must have been mistaken. So the "if able" is completely extraneous in this case?
Basically, "if able" is always extraneous. Many cards (designed before section 3.6 was added to the FAQ) contain it, but mechanically it doesn't change how the card functions.
