"When you would place a card into an edge stack..." is a triggering condition, and refers to a timing point in the game, and not to a player's capability to place a card. You may use the effect if you have no cards remaining in hand.
To me this isn't my favorite objective type just a gamble.
Does it not allow you to look first? The way it is worded leaves room for looking first and the not placing that card.
Nope. You *may* look AND play. Basically, you can choose whether you want to look at the top card or not, but once you do, you're forced to play it as well.
Would have been better if you weren't forced to play the card.
Of course, but thematically, Smugglers are supposed to be about gambling, so it makes sense it works like this.
This may be one of the sets that most strongly reflect that nature, as the low edge count and some inconsistencies make it high-risk, but with high-rewards in the objective, Col Serra and Don't Get Cocky.
Agreed, which just shows how poor design was in many sets through the Hoth Cycle.
exactly, i certainly won't be sad when hoth cycles out, i will however be excited to see a hoth cycle re-done at a more consistently higher power level as i do like hoth vehicles and the theme a lot.
