Essentially, the pilot Luke is underrated, imo. This deck takes advantage of seating him aboard any number of the cheap speeders/fighters available. The synergy with Hoth Objectives helps, as does the speeders and how they play off each other. I typically use Wedge as the pilot, as well. My only weak spot (i think?) is A Hero's Journey Objective Set. I needed a 10th set, wanted it to be Jedi and couldn't figure out a better choice. I figure, hey at least it gives an alternate Luke, in a pinch and the Loyalists are nice control cards, if played smartly. I am sure something better/more effective could take its slot, though. Suggestions? |

Pilot Luke is excellent set for having such amount of force icons and 2 fate cards and extra resource!
I'd change that Hero's Journey to Another Dagobah or H&L.
You could go
~B-wings for more fighters
~Wilderness Fighters for more Hoth objectives, Hoth protection and a pretty decent hitter.
~The Hoth droid pod for resources, though you aren't really doing characters so it's not great.
~Prep for battle for speeder tanks
~Rebel Han because the resource can spring Luke from his speeder/fighter.
~Ackbar because the Escort is the best way to get rid of the Executor should you need to.
Please explain this? I appreciate all of the input thus far, but am lost with this suggestion. help! :/ hehe
Ah...just figured it out, hehe.. Evacuation Procedures.
Still learning here, hehe.
I suppose a couple of the above comments are right...why does it need to be Jedi.
I should either just double up on Red Five, which is just an amazing ship, or a in more Rebel feel...
My only concern with Echo Base Defense is weak force Icons for Edge battles. The whole set only has 5. :/
The Han is an interesting possibility...
There isn't another 'Pilot' type Character, like Wedge or new Luke is there?
Put Luke in a speeder or fighter, play buried outpost. Sacrifice the speeder so that the Buried Outpost doesn't get focus on it when it comes into play. Luke pops out and you get a resource to use. Evac procedure also works, but I won't actually play Evac Procedure as an objective when you have your other options. you probably want 3 of Hoth Ops, Hero's Resolve Attack Pattern Delta or Defense of Yavin 4
There isn't another pilot yet, but it is a neat concept that I hope they explore more. I hope they do it with Vader in the future. I actually think they could do the reverse as well, have a ship that is an enhancement that adds the keywords Vehicle, Fighter, some icons and prevents events that target characters from targeting the unit.
The thing with Echo Base Defence is that you aren't too worried about Edge if you have Resolve or Hoth Ops out, which you should get 1 of those 2 in your starting objectives. As for the cards, you'll likely just be playing them. The Sub-Zero protects your important Hoth objectives and the Wilderness fighters are basically a main for 3 cost. When you can get your vehicles for cheap or free then their cost isn't that prohibitive. They are also a nice target for the survival gear.
I'm not saying it is the right fit for the deck, the B-Wings for example add the same number of objective damage icons, 2 of them black, and the non-unique B-Wings also come out with Attack Pattern Delta. They are also fighters for and Wedge and Wedge on Blue Leader is pretty neat. The only real issue is that the objective isn't Hoth.
In the long run it most depends on if you want some tricks, Han or Ackbar, or more straight up damage. I'm not sure a 2nd Red 5 will help you. You can't play two R2's and double strike is character specific.
