Card that wishes it was Daring Assault Squad. Probably still should be rated 3/5 but there currently is no reason to include it in any AM deck. 2/5 for now...
4R are better spent in a Valkyrie in AM. AoE1 and two commands seems interesting, but I think it cannot find space at the moment. Maybe, with tank or vehicle sinergy...
3/5
I like this. One more command has its uses (less useful than in a 2 cost unit but useful at least) and being Astra Militarum Unit, he can use Preventive Barrage to gain ranged, and Daring Assault Squad cannot. That can be a huge difference. Also when AM is allied with Orks is the only Area right now (but the Burna Boyz are so awesome too). Not great, but not bad unit. It's ok for me.
Can't wait to use this in Gorzod. As printed, this card is fairly costed, but it suffers from its versatility. 4 cost for AoE 1 isn't good, 4 cost for 3/3 isn't good, 4 cost for 2 hammers isn't good. Put them all together, and it would be hard to justify only charging 3 for it, since a basic 1/3/3 with a decent ability costs 3. And +1 hammer PLUS AoE qualifies as more than just a decent ability. So it kind of had to cost 4. But since you can't leverage the 3 attack and 1 AoE at the same time, and the 2 hammers aren't going to be enough most of the time that the AoE is relevant (unless it's a bunch of tokens), it just doesn't make the cut.
But 3 cost in Gorzod makes it all worthwhile.
Tested this in a proxy Gorzod deck, along with the Raven Guard Speeder and the Assault Valkyrie, all of which become 3 cost units. At 3 health this isn't the most durable thing around, however it does benefit from having a decent attack value along with an ok area stat, but is arguably worse than the Raven Guard depending on circumstances (specifically when area is not useful). The Assault Valkyrie, however, still trumps both, even with the single command.
However, this is significantly better than other double command 3 cost units, such as the Vaulting Harlequin, the Umbral Preacher or the Beastmaster Wyches, and as such gives Orks (or at least Gorzod) much needed useful command. The fact as well that it has the potential to hit 4/5 in a Gorzod deck with both 3 cost supports out is just silly
4/5 for Gorzod (not taking into account potential new vehicle releases in Planetfall)
2/5 for anyone else
Only makes into Gorzod, which says it all. There be more love for tanks in the future, though.
