It's not that this sis a bad card or anything. On the contrary this is a very interesting card that could see some play.

In my oppinion all the 1/3 that boost elites have somewhat good effects but they will never see actual play.

Especially in a tyranid elite deck  you wont bother spending 2 resources for this when you can stc and spend 3 for an elite.

In tyranid elite deck it is also highly unlikely that you will run promotions since the high count of limited cards does not allow it.

I will try it but i doubt it will be efficient . It is the first card that could fit in any elite tyranid deck but man i dunno it's just not enought.

2/5 from me.

Considering how bad the Tyranid 2-cost slot is, this might still make it in. I currently run Spore Sacs in my elite deck just as pseudo-area effect. I'd probably be tempted to take them out for this just because it'll have some occasional useful synergy with the elites. Not a bad target for Ymgarl Factor in a pinch either, seeing as the other 2 cost options don't have 3 HP naturally. It's not a ringing endorsement but the other 2 costers are only Genestealer Harvesters, Spore Sacs, Scything Hormagants, Toxic Venomthrope and Swarmling Termagants.

I wouldn't remove spore sacs for this piece of junk. AOE on combat action speed is gold.

The card is not bad especially considering other 2 cost options but still i wouldn't use a card that requires me to spend 5 for an elite and 2 for this and  put them on the same planet.

I prefer to attach something on my elite like regeneration HVC or factor.

Problem is, the elites have to take damage to get this card's benefit but your opponent will just target this first instead. I suppose it then acts as a decent damage soaker, which isn't terrible for 2 cost given it has 3hp, but also isn't that great either. At the very minimum it at least affects the Synapse as well, but that's not enough of a reason to run it

This is the problem with all of these 1/3 elite boosters, but at least several non-Tyranid factions have options to protect them (Necrons can drop a Lychguard and yuk it up with immune-to-events and/or pay-1-to-ready elites; AM has several decent options for reducing damage and keeping them alive; etc.). Tyranids, though, don't even have anything more than average shield presence, typically, so it's going to be really hard to keep this thing alive. Same problem as the Hive Minds, really, except this guy has an even bigger target painted on him.

Agreed that he's a decent option for Ymgarl Factor, though. Ymgarl on this guy plus a Striking Ravener is going to give your opponent an interesting dilemma. (Although arguably the Ymgarl Factor on the Ravener might be the better investment in the long run.)

Loving how Desseas is at the point of having to lead with "...not like it's a bad card but..." : ] Seems multi open up some interesting ideas for all the Tyranid Warlords: Stefan's idea could work with them all, and you could even (if you were completely mad) run him with Omega and keep your opponent wondering whether you've got Ymgarl 'stealers to ambush in. At the very least he becomes a target that might keep your elite unit alive for long enough to stick an attachment on, at which point they shouldn't need him.

I'd only consider this unit in an elite deck if I also play with Sudden Adaptation for that surprise factor, otherwise this unit will be the first to go and your elites will never benefit from it.

Yeah this card is not worth it. Assuming you are swapping out a 2 cost unit for it, there is no real room.

Elite decks often run in the neighborhood of 25 Units. Assuming 9 elites, 4 of signature squad, and 3 ripper swarm, we are already at 16. The 2 cost slot still belongs to the Toxic Venomthrope and the virulent spore sac.

Here we are at 22 units without even thinking about it.

He would have to take the place of a ground unit(pyrovore) or termagant sentry.

I don't know, he just kinda seems like whatever, especially for a faction that does not have too much trouble with damage(Ymgarl factor, No Mercy, OOE's brutal). I would have much preferred the Chaos version(immune to exhaust and rout) or the Am version(immune to enemy events), over something so...

Pedestrian.
