Eldar Elites just got the last card they needed. This will be a fun card.
Would've been a great add if only the user gained the resources, but probably just too good. I just don't know if I would put this in my deck though. Not sure what to cut with so many running elites now.
This looks like the Gut + Pillage of the Tau alliance. With all of the elite decks running around, however, I'm not sure how easy this would be to trigger
Yeah, feels like it will be OP in some matches and utterly useless in others. Will have to see though.
Good card to punish mid-range and swarm decks.
But who actually plays those decks anymore?
Have you heard about Kith or Eldorath ?
How much does it even punish Kith and Eldorath? Kith (at least against me) is usually just trying to choke cards, so dropping a card to get resources is not a useful play. Eldorath (assuming he is not running vehicles, which this will be pointless against) would probably be happy to take 2-3 resources even if you are getting 5, all the better to play the mountain of cards he has stored up.
Against Orks, Ku'gath or Eldorath you mostly don't want to play this. Against Kith you can play it, but likely won't have the cards to spend your resources on. I guess you could play it against any non-Maksim AM warlord?...great ability in theory, but don't think this card will be very useful in practice in a lot of situations.
I think a better version probably would have been something to the effect of "When the HQ Phase begins gain resources equal to the difference between your highest cost unit and your opponent's highest cost unit." Your opponent no longer generates any but you would only get a ton in extreme situations. You would normally end up getting 2-3 which is fairly comparable to Gut and Pillage.
This will end up in my Baharroth / Tau Mobile Drone Spirit Deck ^^
It'll bring more consistency to the bonechoirs
I agree, but the right sort of deck that makes sure that you kill the opposing Elite before you trigger this, that could work.
Maybe a Baha/Vyper deck that chases down the opposing high-coster, kills it, then plays this in the HQ phase?
Asklepios, what if the opposing high-coster is a Possessed? Or a Squiggoth Brute? Or a
Iron hands Cent... erm scrap that, but I think you got what I was trying to say."Warriors of the Craftworld! We gotta enact Plan B now!"
"Which is?"
"Mobile the heck away!"
There are two situations where this is useful:
- you have bigger units than your opponent
- your opponent is already swimming in money
I don't think the last case should be underestimated. If your opponent already has lots of big units and has no problem paying for more of them, then it might not matter that he gets 7 resources from this card and you only get 4 or 5. Those 4 or 5 you get might be enough for you to get into the game, while his 7 really don't make much of a difference.
(Also worth noting that it's not a forced reaction. So each round, you can choose whether or not to trigger it)(derp, I can't read)What do you mean its not forced ? It's an event, and you are not forced to play it
Oh right, sorry, I can't read. I was thinking of it as a support you could trigger each round. You're right, of course.
Would it have killed them to give Tau one good card for drawing more cards instead of another card meant to help with resources?
I think so, yeah; both Aun'shi and O'shaserra already thrive more on cards than resources in general, and Starblaze would perhaps have taken a step too close to getting his sniper-fusilade combo going with a too high rate of frequency if he has direct access to more card draw.
At least we got that snappy looking Krootox, right?[coughcoughcoughfatality]
Most of Aun'shi's combo pieces are resource light (ethereal wisdom is 0; marksman, ion rifle, kauyon strike, and even the odds are 1; borkan is 2) really the only high cost pieces are Prelate and the big ranged hitters at 4. Since most of the assassinations I get come relatively cheaply on resources I'm only ever really trying to dive through cards to get to them. Hunter's Ploy just doesn't seem to be worth it.
This is a card to help with Elite viability in Tau, Eldar and ehm SM.
Interesting ... this goes straight into my Mavros Vehicle Deck to make economy consistant along DstE.
If it wasn't for AM Allies. Huh, maybe things need to change.
