This goes from 6 cost to 4 cost with Deep Strike. 4 Cost total seems pretty decent, and then you can trigger the Invasion Site when it dies for profit.

Yep, or Suddenly Adapt it. A practical 4 with printed 6 is actually quite nice in Tyranids.

Ymgarl Factor for the 1 shot bloody anyone?

Ymgarl Factor for the 1 shot bloody anyone?

Ymgarl needs to be attached and this only has Armorbane when it first Deep Strikes. I mean Ymgarl Factor 1 shot bloodies anyway if you have enough R, but not in conjunction with this guy's Armourbane :P

I believe VonWibble means specifically in an Omega deck (and assuming you played it at an infested planet).

Not too broken considering I already was afraid to send my warlord to an infested planet where I didn't have initiative when playing against Omega.

Ah true, I forget that the attachment is a genestealer. Fair enough.

4 resources for a 0-3-6 unit that has Armorbane for the first battle it participates in doesn't seem that amazing, though maybe its just me.

This, like the other deep strike cards for Tyranids, is best in a very specific scenario, and for this guy it is the last battle. Where you don't care that he loses armorbane because the game ended anyways. But yeah, without narmorbane , he is a uninspired side of muscle.

Sudden Adaptation gets the most out of it. You pay 4 (+2 for sudden) to get Armorbane 3  Swing, then maybe soak some dmg , and a ready 6 coster possibly. Next turn you can deepstrike again. Sounds pretty interesting.

I'm actually pretty happy about this card:

  • 0/3/6 elite for 4R without needing discounters (even sans any abilities) is decent value for Tyranids (not so much compared to other factions, maybe, but other factions haven't been so systematically gimped since day 1, either). Additionally, 3 of that cost is deferred. That means I can pay out 5-6 resources on turn 1, and as long as I capture 2-3R in the command phase I can then Deep Strike this guy into the opponent's face if their warlord happens to show up at his planet (or it's planet 1, I suppose).
  • As mentioned above, it pairs really nicely with Invasion Site, and makes lesser played events like Sudden Adaptation and Dark Cunning a little more valuable. Which in turn opens up more potential for an elite swapping deck rather than a "play my elites and hope to god I get a decent attachment on them before my opponent kills them" deck
  • Although not a genestealer, he still slots into Omega decks just as well as he does into OOE or Swarmlord, which is super rare. Anything that opens up options beyond Omega's cookie-cutter Genestealer build is good news in my book
  • This card means that Tyranids finally have some bluffing ability with their Deep Strike cards. Facing a card in reserve, you opponent now needs to worry about whether your warlord/Synapse will show up, or if you're going to drop a 3/6 armorbane on them. That's a pretty serious deterrent to a warlord commitment, and the more of those Tyranids can get their claws on the better, because that helps them exploit their strong commit advantage.

I've been thinking about an Omega deck that has Mawloc, Dark Cunning, and Ymgarl Factor that can clear the planet with enough resources.  Of course Backlash will have to be included as well.  It can work if I can get infestation going early.

I had Haruspex with Ymgarl Factor today, that is ridicoulous.
