Replaces both noise marines and khorne bezerkers in my Zara deck. More consistant than both

agree with Noises, but berserkers are still better, imo.

I want to use this guy quite badly, but many say he doesn't have outstanding advantages at first glance.

Here is how I'm trying to justify building around him:

1 unit card useful in command and combat - saves deck space for low unit count builds with sowing chaos and calamity.

3 coster who wants to be at blue planet and synergize with sowing chaos.

While he only has one command icon he is a great target for promotions which also protect him from warpstorms.

Can be nice defender for Slaanesh temptation planet.

Bigger body to take damage, live, and help Baarzul get bloodied.  Also can possibly win a combat single handedly at Hale Baarzul's side thanks to Baarzul's damage sucking ability.

Great late planet candidate to trigger kaerux erameas -could be massive if positioned on Iridial, Carnath, Taurus

Any thoughts on the above are appreciated!

The way I look at it, if you get his +1 card bonus once, he is better than an Anxious Infantry Platoon (no drawback and costs -1C +1R). So it's down to whether or not you get that card bonus.

Putting him at planet 1 as a solid combat unit seems like it might work well (particularly if it's blue). Even if you don't win command there, if he survives combat he'll get swept into your warlord train and you'll stand a good chance of winning an extra card on subsequent turns until he's destroyed.

IMO, the issue is that most of its 'advantages' apply to....every other three drop, pretty much.

Its no better at winning command than any other 3 drop with one icon. It gives you a benefit if you do win, but so does a 1 cost Void Pirate (actually the VP does it better, because they don't care what planet they go to). Combat wise, it's arguably worse than Noise Marines/Berzerker - essentially you're trading in a higher base attack for a lower potential power. Though that really speaks more to the three cost units available to Chaos being pretty bad all around.

While it's playable, I'd also see it being replaced very easily. It feels like filler, not a power card.
