Looking forward to taking some warlord scalps with Lone Wolf and unexpected friends..
Enemy warlord turns up at a planet to snipe a lonely capper. Warlord exhausts to attack and destroy the capper. Lone Wolf moves across. Warlord and Lone Wolf both ready. The warlord now has the choice of either retreating or attacking the Lone Wolf and probably not killing him (due to typical warlord attack value and the plethora of SM double shields and defensive tricks) and then being hit for three in return plus ambushed by Eager Recruit and Drop Pods.
Yes, great to see Space Marines finally get some combat tricks.
This makes the Blood Claw pack somewhat more useful, whilst also granting synergy with DPA. Will be interesting to see how much this is used
Keen to attempt the double bluff with Ragnar's Sentinels. Sentinels vacate a planet to run away from the enemy warlord, Warlord thinks he's safe this guy jumps over, fun continues. I know it won't be as powerful as a 'regular' build but just for the fun I'm keen to playtest a deck with all the currently available Space Wolves. I think they're one more unit away from being viable as a traited-themed deck.
Blood Claw, Ragnar's War Camp, Frostfang. Rune Priest. There is some synergy now.
I was thinking Lone Wolf might be a reason to put Frostfang on something other than Ragnar. He becomes a 5-5 warlord hunter who does not have to guess where the enemy warlord is going to find him.
War camp is 1x and overcosted, Frostfang is 1x and meant for the warlord, Rune priest is fairly bad.
That leaves Blood Claw, which is good, but just not enough.
That is a good idea about the Lone Wolf though. I'll have to try that out.
In your opinion. Because I had very good results with all these cards. Blood Claw is pretty amazing in a hunt deck. And Rune Priest in my experience is a good card that nobody want to use, but that shines in game.
Lone Wolf seems another awesome card for the Ragnar Hunt Deck. Not tried it yet.
War camp is signature so, as with any signature unit, discussing their merits is almost pointless. If you want to use the Warlord you have to include it.
Rune Priest is the main trait-based boost. He's a bit pricey but could eventually become key. All they need is one more good target for the Blood Claws - at the moment using them to get the Predator which is a big body but then misses its enter-the-battlefield ability is a bit hit and miss.
Sure you don't get the full benefit for the Predator by playing it via a Blood Claw, but its stats make it a 5/6 costed unit with no ability anyway, so it's still worth it.
Frostfang is a good call on the Lone Wolf, especially if you're running Ambush Platforms. Got to try that out
