Not bad.
Can his reaction be triggered twice or even trice?
I would guess no, because you have to forfeit the card AND resource bonus EACH time you want to trigger the reaction.
I like it a lot. Winning command isn't too hard for Eldar or even if taken as an allied faction.
Getting this from discard provides you with 2R1C for winning the struggle. Assuming you didn't want to play an event that turn with the cash you would have got, and assuming you actually want a fight that turn it will often be a good play. Otherwise I'd keep it in hand.
How many to include is a tough one. I don't want loads in hand if there aren't any relevant green planets or if I'm down on command. But the thought of having 3 in discard ready to spring into battle all at once on the wining planet is so tempting (Edit, you can't do this multiple times for 1 green planet as it is a replacement effect. That makes me think 1-2 is the right number for a deck for now).
Therefore I think I'd count them against my events when considering them for a deck as with Eager Recruits and Assault Teams.
Finally - its a drone, so can be searched by ECT.
Also Spirit, so not exhausted by Wraithknight. I suppose given ability it is less likely that they will be at planet during deploy phase, but then there is also the Gift of Isha > Wraithknight.
I believe you can only trigger one into play at any given planet, since it's an "instead of" effect.
Based on my reading of replacement effects in the RRG I'd say if you have two or more of these in discard pile and/or hand you could strangely enough trigger the interrupt for each unit, BUT it would only be the last unit triggered that entered play. In effect you can only get one unit into play through this method.
From RRG p.13:
"If multiple replacement effects are initiated against the
I'd hesitantly disagree with the bolded bit, as while this card costs 2R to play, 0/3/2 is not really the stats of a 2R unit. Its more like a 1.1R unit, and its costing you the command struggle bonuses. For Iridial or Y'varn, sure, thats ok, but otherwise its only a very very marginal improvement on the usual reward.
Its a shame this is a replacement effect, as this really weakens it in my mind.
Good point on the drone trait, of course, and also worth noting the Mighty Wraithknight synergy.
This is actually a design space that is the richest to explore for the benefit of players. CHOICE! Cards that allow you to choose whether to trigger and you receive different benefits on the choices you make. In this case you can take the command win or the extra body on the board based on game state. Any cards that offer choice like this are better then surface stats can state, because it gives the player more options. When a good player has more options throughout the course of a game, they will typically turn that into a win.
A new reason (beside Superiority) to do command phase 1 planet at a time!
I did clarify that its only worth doing if the planet in question is one you need an extra body to fight at, and you don't need the resources you would have got for Gifts or other tricks. And of course it gets worse if you had Pirates or Traders etc at the planet.
I think the 0 command is deceptive, you already won command at its planet after all, so this card could have 1 command hammer and I don't think that would change its value much. And cost 2 for 3/2 in attack is good value.
Comparing it to Biel-Tan Guardians you get a slightly worse overall stat line as a trade off for the potential to use it as a surprise play or recur it. That seems a good deal to me.
I like this card. You can play an early Wroth if your hand has a few of these and let them go into the discard pile, then pull them out as and when needed. It also allows you to get something out of a planet that your opponent has Archon Palace'd
Well yeah, my disdain for this card is... hesitant.
It may be better than I think, this is definitely one that demands playtesting.
this card can be used in order to bypass archons palace?and deploy the unit?
Anything that beats Archon's Palace has to be good!
We clarified with FFG that canceling one of the bonuses (card or resource) with Archon's Palace does not stop you from triggering the Revenant's replacement of "card AND resource bonuses." So yes, this card does trump Archon's Palace.
Full explanation is in this thread.
It influences combat math after Warlord commitment, which I like.
Indeed it does. And imagine having all three copies available for triggering, say, two in your hand and one in your discard pile (or vice versa) on a Strongpoint-planet, e.g. Iridial.
To affect the combat math further, an Empower could even be added, just prior to the owner's first strike that is.
This card is certainly a factor which the opponent-player will have to calculate, especially if all three copies are already in the discard pile which makes for a strong deterrent.
You can only put in one of these units per command win though right?
Effectively, yes.
Its a replacement effect, so it replaces the command win. You could trigger three sequentially if you wanted, but each replacement effect would replace the one before.
Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying Asklepios
It's the "instead" that makes it happen only once. Not the case with EAT.
EAT isn't a replacement effect. You don't put the EAT into play "instead" of having the Soldier/Warrior leave play; you put EAT into play WHEN the Soldier/Warrior leaves play.
Look at it this way -- the normal "prize" for winning command at a planet is to draw cards/collect resources. With a Revenant, you get to put it into play as a "prize" for winning command at that planet instead of drawing/collecting. But since you only get 1 prize (i.e., you can only draw/collect once) for winning command, you can only get one Revenant.
