Overcosted by 2, or should have discarded the location. Most good targets for this effect can exhaust before the Basilisk fires, for a slightly suboptimal play at worst. Ranged 3 is nice, but given IG have plenty of other options for ranged I'd suggest using those instead. 1/5.

It's a overcosted unit, the body and Ranged is great. But the Reaction is quite situational. As your opponent is often aware that this card is around and there is little this card does to stop it being used. As with the Ork Battle Wagon I do think it would have really had great function with -1 to it's cost. I don't think it's too heavily overcosted however.

2/5

Additionally if the card just straight up have destroyed a Support card I do think I would have rated it 3/5.

This is a nice way to shell the Orbital City versus Tau...and disrupt some future plans for a Staging Area or Ammo Depot.

^agree. This card is so underrated. Is amazing. And a ranged 3 + catachan in addition to support exhausting... tasty. 7 damage to Nazdreg and no KFG, so nice.

Orbital city maybe, but ammo depot is often triggered in deployment, and staging ground can be (suboptimally) triggered before ranged.

Atrus, the exhaust only happens after the damage has been taken fully (ie after assigning and KFG's interrupt), the KFG will trigger before you use this reaction. Unless the Ork player thinks a 7 atk doesn't justify its use...

Oh, is after damaging it's true... I thought it was after attacking (need to read the cards more carefully). This devalues the card a bit. But still liking it.

6R for 3/3/5 Ranged is not at all bad, you know. Put it up against the other 6 costs in the game, and its clear that it has a worse triggered ability, but the best keyword, and joint best command.

I think for a serious analysis one needs to put it in its proper non-loyal context. While ranged does not particularly impress in a faction that can use Preemptive Barrage,

It's a different story for factions that have no native ranged units (relying instead on clunky attachments nobody really plays to get the effect).

I think the above was the reason for the overcost, and while I am still of the opinion that the investment required is a bit harsh, it's conceivable to find

a situation when it makes for a mechanism that's better than the sum of its parts.

Let's imagine we port it to Nazdreg, we can reasonably expect a bunch of ork kannons on the table. Doesn't feel too awful now, does it?

Finally, let's focus on the ability. While it does look weak, the important thing to consider is that it's triggered during the ranged phase.

In practice, there are situations where it can force the opponent's plays at inconvenient moments:

Staging Grounds, Catachan Outpost, Ambush Platform, you now need to make your play in advance or lose it, allowing us to direct the ranged fire at

the most offending target.

Not saying that it makes it an omg best card evar, at best it is somewhere between 2/5 and 3/5, but it warrants a second look at the very least.

I confess, I want this card to be useful somehow, as I'm really digging the card art.

Orks have Rokkit Launcha for ranged and Squig Bombin'/Deathskull Lootas for attachment hate. Don't think they really make the best out of the Basilisk.

Space Marines may appreciate it more, but it doesn't feel good in them either.

A vehicle attachment that boosts attack values would help see a deckshape emerge...

Regarding this, as I run a Space Marine elites deck, I note with interest that this is the only non Space Marine elite that Space Marines have access to. While its no good for Rally the Charge, Indomitable or Crushing Blow, it still supports Fall Back, and is a better unit overall than Deathwing Guard or Ultramarines Dreadnought...
