Inferior to Khorne Berzerker....

Inferior to Khorne Berzerker....

I agree for the most part, but in a Ku'gath deck this guy will probably see play thanks to his Nurgle trait.

I do hope so.... but it bothers me. They could have given them +1 hp over Khorne Berzerkers and they would be fluffy and thematic.

this card. this card made me really sad when i saw the spoilers for the first war pack. i felt deflated for sure. i guess ill just play chaos with the same cards as in the core set for the next two months.

Kur'gath or not, this guy doesn't look promising at all. If only some synergy with that build existed beyond the Nurgle trait...

Even though it's worse than the KB at the moment, it's still another 3 drop that chaos desperately needs added to it's curve. Plus it has the nurgle trait for when that commander comes out.

What is important to remember is that this is an Nergle unit. There are a lot of cards coming out that affect those units and the importance of this one will help greatly with that one. On its own it is a mediocre unit but when you consider the amount of upgrades he could potentially receive or affects he can be involved in this card's value gets a lot stronger if he is in the right deck

I agree 100%. You have to really be creatively bankrupt as a designer, if you consider this spin-off of a filler card worthy to be included in your game's very first expansion pack.

Rightly or wrongly they seem to have gone for a mix of immediately useful cards and teasers (take Homing Beacon for Tau - it'll clearly be good once Ethereals become a thing, but right now it's worthless). This looks like a teaser for future Nurgle cards.

I wouldn't say Chaos have nothing though - the Heretek Inventor is worthy of going into any Chaos deck, in fact it may be the only expansion card that does look like it could go into every deck of the relevant faction.

I think you guys may be missing the point. You shouldn't be choosing between whether to include DGI or KB. At this point DGI is clearly the inferior of the two. Rather, the excitement should be that DGI can be included *in addition* to KB, giving Chaos the potential of *six* 1/2/4 units which cost only 3 resources. That's nice enough of its own — Nazdreg's Flash Gitz and Weirdboy Maniak are the only other units with those stats, while SM, Tau, and Eldar each have a 1/3/3 unit at that cost — but this is especially nice to balance out the high-cost Elites in the Chaos faction.

This doesn't make it a five-star card by any means. To be certain, DGI isn't per se better than any of those five similar units, but when conceived of as a way to bend the deck-building rules in a way, its prospects are improved.

This card is really lacking something, an ability to be specific. Now if it had 2 Command we could have at least talked about this card. Now there is really nothing worth talking about. It's Nurgle but that's it...

2/5

Hope Nurgle gets some insane Support or Event cards that care about Nurgle units.

It's worth coming back to this one year on, just to point out what a frustratingly pisspoor pile of junk this is. As if it wasn't enough to have Khorne Berzerkers looking down at their sad, ability-less Nurgle brethren, we've since had Black Guardians. How much is 1 command icon worth? Well, the core set has already told us that 1C is worth two command icons...

This card is garbage, but not because of Black Guardians.  Personally, I think they're also garbage.  I think it's generally accepted that 1 command icon is worth about +1R cost, not half a resource.

Nurgle cycle is gone and now its Khornes time to shine. Gonna be awhile before any cards are printed thats going to benifit Nurgle units sadly

Mmm, not sure about that. We see with Lone Wolf they are still releasing Space Wolves cards even though we are now moving to Black Templars. Even with the release of Barzul, I fully expect this cycle to contain more Nurgle cards (and Tzeentch and Slaneesh, for that matter).

But we all know anything that benefits Nurgle benifits Tzeentch twice more!
