This is so close to 100% better than the current version of Greatjon it's a little sad actually. Great card for stark, as he can defend int challenges and can not be stealthed AND has melee AND has renown of sorts in 3-4player games... still, fairly reasonable for 4 gold without deadly or true renown.

How can he defend int challenges?
His ability allows him to. It just says kneel Greatjon to have him participate in the current challenge. It doesn't say he would have to normally be eligible for the challenge.
He can still be chosen as a target for stealth, though. Great card nevertheless.
Damn - can't you edit posts??? Anyway I guess he could NOT be stealthed, since that only prevents you from "declaring" him as a defender...
That is correct. Stealthing him won't stop him from jumping into the challenge.
Stealth does stop him from joining. Stealth says "cannot defend," and not "cannot declare as a defender."
huh really? Wonder when that changed.
It is in my Core Set rulebook. Not sure it was changed.
It must've been changed in the switch to LCG. Def wasn't like that in the CCG.
Luckily there's an easy answer to this: http://www.fantasyfl...=4&efidt=638668

Ktom mentions here that even though he can be stealthed, his action is a challenges action, so you can put him in after they declare attackers but before stealth/defenders.

Thanks for that link. I hadn't thought of using his ability BEFORE the attacker would declare stealth targets! My Stark Defense deck is going to be UNSTOPPABLE!!!

(yeah not really but I'll have fun with it anyway...)

If you are playing a melee game and the Greatjon participates in a military challenge "on the winnig" side. Have you also won a challenge to fulfill the criterais for The Siege of Winterfell (LoW) and in case you were defending for Winterfell (LoW)?
If not are there any possibilities or "workarounds" to make this happen?
Ah, my rules question has been answered already in the FFG Forum:

Players win or lose challenges, not characters. You cannot "win" the challenge if you are not the attacking player nor the defending player.
[...]
Note however that in a Melee game if you are defending instead of the player you are supporting, you will become the winner and get powers from the agenda.

Someone give this guy Longclaw (ASitD) or White Harbor Dromon (TGF) already!

Note that he can't claim renown for participating in challenges which you are not the defending player.

Technically he can if you're the attacking player. . . :P

When he joins an intrigue challenge as the defender, does Greatjon count his strength or just his melee keyword?

I would like to know this also^

He would count his strength+melee.  Just because he does have an intrigue icon doesn't mean he can't count his strength.  It just means he can't be declared as an attacker or defender during Int challenges.  His ability allows you to bypass the declaration of defenders and put him into that challenge.  No effect on his strength whatsoever.
