This plot paired with Orel the Eagle equals a guaranteed unopposed military or power challenge.
Or just give him Joust and get a free challenge every round.
That thought never occurred to me. Probably because I don't have any means to give him joust currently but now I know what I am going to when I obtain these means.
What if the original defending character was removed? Could you then navel in?
No. Removing the defender from the challenge does not "undo" the fact that you already declared your 1 character for the challenge.
Note that you can use Naval to declare a defender in the challenge - provided you do not declare a defender during the regular "declare defenders" step of the challenge. This might be a good idea if you want to Naval in a defender before your opponent has a chance to stealth it.
