Why does he not have the king trait? I guess this could be while he was taking the throne from King Aerys II. Would like to see a picture of him younger with the armor that he wore during The War of the Usurper then. Just my two cents. A great card anyway though.
He's better off without the King trait anyways. That way you can use him and one of the other Baratheon Kings.

hes wearing a god damn crown, if rheagar can have the king trait without ever being king than fat bob deserves the trait when hes wearing the god damn crown

its alright to nitpick on something you enjoy

Ha, I never realized that about Rheagar. Good point. Very un-Nedly trait...
I actually really enjoy this Robert not being a king. That way he doesn't shut off my other kings. And Rhaegar I believe was very briefly a King after Aegon died but before he died. He may not have been officially crowned, but was King, imo. Still, this Robert probably should have the King trait. lol

How could Rheagar have ever been king? the Mad King Aerys was king before and after rheagar died. aegon dying would have no impact whatsoever on rheagar being king or not

also from a gameplay standpoint i love robert not having the king trait but from a nedly standpoint it is pretty ridiculous

Sorry I meant Aerys, not Aegon. Didn't Aerys die before Rhaegar?

Not sure on the timing, but I thought Rhaegar was killed by Robert on the battlefield sometime before when Aerys was getting stabbed in the back.

Rhaegar was killed by Robert at the Ruby Ford before Kings Landing was sacked. So Jackmerridew is correct. Rhaegar should never have had the king trait. It was said that he was well liked by the small folk so maybe they saw him as a "king" but that's stretching it a bit I think. I belive this Robert was meant depict him before he took the iron throne. I just think the artist was not told this. It would make sense for his ability as well. Robert made a better warrior than king. It's easy to see why he would be greatly admired during that time (double renown).

But he doesn't look like he could kill anyone in that image unless it was over the last slab of bacon...
For the trait and idea that follows, the ability makes sense. But it doesn't belong with this picture.

I would probably run from a fat dude with a sword, bacon slab or not. Who knows he could be canibalistic. Joking aside I think we can pretty much all agree that the card art does not work here.

the real reason is probably that when they didn't have the king design quite yet when they made him, and the king mechanic was added later. sometimes design trumps flavor.
Actually Kings first came out during VED which was like 2004 or 2005 I think.
