But if you're already having problems with the tempo, or just keeping up with it, this guy will slow you down a lot, since he's costy and doesn't really bring much challenge presence to the table.
Lyanna Stark (ODG) though, who along with Gylbert Farwynd (GotC) and other magnificent GJ characters like Newly Made Lord (TftH) helps me get the control I need to keep up despite a fairly high gold curve on some of the nobles. Against some decks Gylbert Farwynd is almost enough to completely wreck my opponent's plans unless they can do some target kill.
I might give it a shot, to see if the control elements I have in place are enough to justify splashing a card this expensive. Or add Alliance, as you say, though I currently play Aeron Damphair (VM) as my agenda for some card draw. If I add Alliance, I might look to add some other OOH nobles, but the cost of Stalwart Shield would still be pricey, and with just 1 icon may not be worth it in the long run.
Thanks for your input!
And yes, the best way is probably to try it and see how it goes. Good luck!
How it works with Valar?
Is there a particular interaction you are asking about? At first glance, I'm not sure what conflict or interaction there could be between a character that prevents other characters from being knelt, losing icons, or losing STR and a plot that doesn't do any of those things.
