It is very good in a pure NW build because it allows you to put defeners in no matter how many times you are attacked... provided you have the cards in your hand. Also, cost 4 saves it from newly made lord

In a NW deck if your opponent has no way to blank or remove it, they are in trouble. Use it to put
Defenders of the North (AKitN) in play and then stand them with
Frozen Outpost (LoW).

If I use this ability and after that my opponent discard The Wall, would character return to hand at the end of the phase or not?

Yes. The "return to hand at the end of the phase" is a lasting effect.

So khal Drogo (Core Set) can return from dead pile if he was put into play by using his abil?

Sadly, no. All effects only affect cards in play unless otherwise specified. Since Drogo's ability doesn't say it can still work when out-of-play, it can't. The difference is the lasting effect of the Wall is still in effect, regardless of if the card that granted that effect is still in play. However if the card you put into play using the wall was killed, discarded or otherwise removed from play, that terminates the lasting effect since it doesn't specify it can work on things out of play. Such as Theon Greyjoy (WLL)'s ability specificly states his works while in your dead pile.

Another card that grants a lasting effect is something like Feast or Famine (KotStorm). If you flip this plot and choose the gold, it creates a lasting effect that states you cannot declare a challenge this phase. If you changed your plot during that same turn, you still will not be able to declare challenges. This is because FoF creates a lasting effect regardless of if it is still your revealed plot card. Unlike Fear of Winter (BtW), which is just a constant effect only while that plot is revealed.

Okay so the card says put any nights watch character from your hand into play during any challenge declared against you. do they have to have the symbol for that challenge? because normally other cards would say something to the effect of any challenge they are eligible for...
For example i only run the power and military north agendas and someone attacks me with intrigue, can i use this card to put defenders of the north down as a defender with a strength of 8 and win if theirs is less than 8?

Yep, the character played from your hand isn't being "declared" as a defender, it's just taking part as a defender in the challenge regardless of what icon it has. All that matters now is its strength.
