Just so I'm clear on this "higher STR than printed cost" text that is popping up in this cycle, one would be comparing the effective STR to the printed cost, not the printed STR to printed cost, correct? (i.e. if a character is buffed through an attachment, its strength may be 5 while its printed STR is only 3). Seems obvious but I've learned not to assume in this game.
It doesn't say printed strength (though it does reference printed cost) so I think you are correct.
I think this card could be very useful - lots of characters can fall into its parameters and it can be used on attack or defense. Still, though, I'd probably just opt to keep my
Frozen Moat (BtW), Frozen Outpost (LoW), and Borderland Keep (TWH) instead of this - they just seem easier to pull off.
Bit of a meta card, but nearly every house has at least one common target for this. Good str to gold ratio is typically very appealing, not to mention this hates on buff attachments, melee, and such. Smugglers Cove is a huge rush tool that this kicks in the nuts, for instance.
Thankfully this card is useless against the mighty Stannis Baratheon (VM) :)
Its great in a Bolton deck.

I will be interested to see how it shapes up when the new cycle kicks in fully.
Question with this: if an opponent declares only one attacker (who happens to fit the str > cost criteria) and as a response (before defenders are declared) one kneels the Keep to remove that character from the challenge...is the attacker considered to have "lost" the challenge?
The challenge fizzles.
So, events that specify 'if you lose a challenge, then X' would not be applicable since the attacker didn't lose per say....just fizzled out?
Yes. A challenge immediatelly ends without resolution if there are no participating characters. And the challenge opportunity is used up so it can't be declared again.

On the other hand, if you wait to declare a defender before booting them out, it proceeds as normal (and you'll win barring them jumping a naval or anything into the challenge). Which might matter if you want renown or to trigger something like no quarter and such.
I assume you can use this during melee to remove characters fron a challenge you personally aren't participating in. Right?
