I love that this card in non-loyal and doesn't have any conditions outside of the STR of the character (e.g. "after you lose a challenge...").
As this doesn't specify "printed strength" you could burn some bigger character down, confine them, and then "tears of lys" them?

Yes.
If I confinement on a character after my opponent declare him as a defender, will his STR still take into account?
Yes, you need to do it before they declare them as a defender. You only need an icon to declare for a challenge, not to be considered participating.
For example, Confinement is played on Edric Dayne who hasn't got any icons, can one give him icons later, or are 1 instances of them taken away by Confinement because it hasn't taken away anything yet?
For example, say you want to do a power challenge with Edric and have 1 gold.
When you give him a power icon, the calculation of how many icons he has is redone. He gets 0 from his own card, +1 that you bought for him, -1 from Confinement, = 0 total.
However, if you had 2 gold instead of 1, you could do it twice. The second time the calculation is done Edric has 0 + 2 - 1 = 1 power icon and can make the challenge.
Looking forward to doing this with Targ...
The look on an opponents face when I use Dracarys! on a 7 str character alone would be worth it!
Very tricky to pull off - 3 gold, 3 cards and kneeling a Dragon/Danny to kill one character at the end of the phase. Much easier to just put them to the sword! (1 card, 2 gold, instant kill)
Plaza, confinement, tears is a much more practical combo, but you might was well just use Nymeria.
Question on this point - say I use Confinement on a character during the first action window of the challenge phase. His icons are now blanked but he also has stealth as keywords are not effected by Confinement. Would that character still be able to use stealth if ANOTHER character is first declared for a challenge (because another character with icons needs to be declared to be considered attacker/defender)? Or is that character's keywords useless because they are not eligible for any challenge?
Basically - could a character without icons use their keywords (renown, stealth, etc.) and "participate" in the challenge with other characters with the appropriate icons?
But that won't work on a 7 strength character!
True, I guess if you really need to kill the Red Viper and don't have Nymeria or Caleotte the Dracarys version would work.
