You can't trigger the "shielding" and "protect" keywords. A shield isn't the same as shielding. Any shield that is already in play will work normally. What the Moldy Crow stops is the capability to put new shields in play as long as it exists.

To add to Majestaat statement : it's only the shielding keyword that you can't trigger. You could trigger an ability that says : Add a shield token to target unit. Or one that says : After a unit enters play, add a shield token on that unit.

Because that's not shielding
