Fun thought question: If the text on this unit was switched around (he gains a black bomb for each Endor objective YOU control), would that be too powerful? 

Guns are actually better. If you promote him, tapping into a couple of guns and a tactics will always be better on defence. He was supposed to be played with the mission IMO but the mission set is terrible. Dyer's text and icons on Renz would make that set closer to playable, but also a resource because troopers have none.
