If there are, for example, two cards captured under Dengar, can I choose two different combat icons (for each captured card severally, say a blast damage and a tactic),  or I choose a single combat icon, and Dengar gains it twice?

You can choose two different icons. 1 card = 1 combat icon of your choice.

He gains a combat icon of your choice for EACH captured card on him.    if you have multiple captured cards on him, then you can get any combination of tactics, blast, or unit damage.

If dengar is killed, are the captured cards rescued? The rules say when an objective is destroyed cards are captured, doesn't specify for dengar(but it would make sense)

This is answered in the official FAQ on fantasy flight website.
(2.13) Rescue
A captured card is rescued if the card it is attached to
leaves play for any reason.

So this guy could be an absolute beast, but if he dies he gives your opponent a huge boost, so is it worth it? Can this guy wreck face?

No, but not because of Dengar himself.  The rest of the set just drags him down so much that it never saw any play.

Nah this set is garbage and has been superceded by the Ancient Rivals Dengar. Much better set although in both cases Dengar is a unit that's only situationally good unlike his LS analog in Captain Rex who's ready to go when he hits the board.
