2. If I play a unit, then this, and then another unit that unit does not gain a focus, right?
2. Correct
Micah
Yep, that works.
- If you have 2 x Emperor's Web on your board, your first Sith event card's cost is reduced by 2.
- If you have 2 x Hoth Operations, each speeder you control has Edge +2.
Same mechanic with this enhancement
Remote hideout just says it enters play with 1 focus token on it; Making it sound like a set value.
I do see the justification for it but I´ll side with chiller on the matter that it is too ambiguous with this wording.
The power level seems appropiate enough to me.
S&S decks currently have more versatile units with both lots of combat icons, card effects and actions that can be taken at any time. Especially the falcon. That card is so strong I don't even feel satisfied anymore when I win with it.
S&S are fine. they are great as a main affiliation and also splashed into rebels or jedi. S&V on the other hand is terrible as a main faction and doesn't splash particularly well into navy. It can besplashed into sith with some success, but regardless, they are the weakest faction, and its not close......
this is why they are virtually unrepresented in the major tournaments and even on the local level i see virtually no S&V at all. As i said above, i see them splashed into Sith on occasion and thats about it. that tells me there is a problem. hopefully FFG rights the ship in the upcoming cycle, but only time will tell.
I think it's worth making an update here on following question:
If I have two Remote Hideouts in play, how many focus tokens does the first unit receive?
Answer: One. This via the FAQ 2.0
I would have preferred the text on this card to say, "Forced Reaction: After you play a unit from your hand which you paid for by exhausting this enhancement, place one focus token on that card. This way, only units that are "coming from the remote hideout" are delayed, and not your entire force. Of course, then you just skirt the issue by only using it for enhancements and events. Yeah that makes it stronger. But at least then I'd be willing to play with this set more.
When i have used this set i generally will use it along side jawas so i can put them in for free and they take the focus, but this set is just another in a long line of scum sets that has a lot of issues. this enhancement is bad, the chuds are too expensive. 4 cost is too much for dengar at his base stats and it takes too many hoops to jump through to get him worth even deploying. The objective's abil;ity is really bad, i mean it takes a captive just to get an extra resource so it equals other 5/2's that need no captives and if you put too many focus on it, you'll never use it again for the game and your opponent will likely just leave it on the board to choke you of resources. I just shake my head at FFG's designs for many of scum's early, and even some newer sets (Hello Wittin....)
Yeah. My brother was telling me about a deck he saw on Monday that used Remote Outpost with Jawas and he just kept cycling them back to hand by losing edge. It didn't sound like a good tactic (loosing edge, I mean), but evidently the Scum player completely shut down his opponent.
I like to use this in conjunction with Aqualish Thugs.
If DS gets more cards with a strong "when this unit comes into play" or "after you play this unit" effect, then it might be an ok resource. It reminds me of Flea Bottom in AGoT. Use it to put in your Newly Made Lord or Flea Bottom Scavenger in play, get the great effect, and then anything after is gravy on top.
Even then, though the unit that comes into play isn't "played" so the unit that you play after that is still the first one played that round and gets the focus. There are a lot of hoops to jump through to make this card work.
EDIT: Okay, I think I misread your statement. If there are stronger "when this unit enters play" effects, you would still get a solid benefit from playing the unit even if it were exhausted upon entering play. At the moment, we've got Bossk's ability, but since he has to be focused to use it, Remote Hideout shuts him down unless you can get a Jawa or something out first.
Oh man, this could really bite my Tri-faction TIE deck. If you play "Backstabber" on your opponent's turn, it enters play with a focus token. It would still use its ability, but you wouldn't be able to strike with it unless you had Tallon Roll ready or something.
