Solid 3/3 for 3 with a good ability that makes him live a lot longer then he has a right to.
I'm not a huge fan of this unit. 3 for a 3/3 isn't that inspiring, and while the ability here is quite effective, it's easily played around unless you outnumber your opponents. It also competes with the very strong Sicarius's Chosen for the 3-cost unit slot in Space Marine decks. I like this card a lot more as an allied unit in Imperial Guard (where it's a 4/3 with Straken's ability) than I do in a Space Marine deck.
While I panned this unit earlier, I've played a few more games with it and realized that I wasn't using it correctly. I now like the Veterans very much-- they make a great card to deploy onto the first planet (or any other planet you think the enemy may want to go to) when the opponent has the initiative. With the opponent striking first, the Veterans remain ready and can absorb or limit many attacks. Just watch out for Eldar!
Haha … so true! Just got my Blood Angels Verans' Asses handed to me in true fashion by some Eldar.
Just saw a promo version of this card on BGG:
http://boardgamegeek...-40000-conquest
There is a Full art Possessed too its Amazing :/ damn Gen Con promo,,
Until they are routed by Archon's Terror, or knelt by Eldar.
My Tau love to see that, so I can play Deception to clear it off the board entirely. Attachments are gone and go ahead and pay for Veterans again.
Another SM, AM and Tau staple, 4/5.
So tanky. With one more command icon would be 5/5.
4/5
So he only takes 8 damage? What am I missing?
The thing you are missing here is sarcasm.=P
Even Kingsley originally wasn't a big fan of this unit XD
One more reason to not pre-rate new cards ^^
What? You mean I can't tell everything I'm ever going to need to know about a card and how it performs based on the spoiler?
please re-read this out loud
Well yea, this may come as a surprise ^^
This card will have a pretty nice synergy with Mavros =D
Edit: 2 possible action delays in the deploy phase and of course a possible +2 attack in the combat phase, in the same round! ^^
Very solid card. Splashes into AM and Tau. Combos very well the other SM powerhouse, the librarian.
4/5
