Ridiculous amount of good cards for AM this cycle.
Why is this priced at zero? Coupled with the two shields that's insane. Hello free Inquisitorial Fortresses, Smasha Guns and Cathedral of Saint Designer's girlfriend
This is what AM does, and did all the time. Cheap events, units, and supports.
More importantly it's a combat action, which in effect let's you ambush supports (and get around limited of Troop Transport). Seems great for hunt style Catachan decks for the surprise damage output. Really great for delaying the deployment of power cards like Forward Barracks to lull the enemy into a false sense of security. The problem like always is fitting this card in a deck, but it seems really really good on paper.
It's great in a Worr deck that runs a fairly high number of supports. I can now replace the Emperor's Warrant for this since it's also got 2 shields and it's more useful. Yeah it's crazy how many good cards Worr/AM got in this cycle. The Nids player in me wish Nids will get this kind of love in the next cycle lol.
Basically because you're adding "1 card" to the cost, and need to collide both cards in your hand to get the effect.
Not that this isn't an excellent card, but its competing with other excellent AM 2-shielders as well like Warrant and To Arms.
Obvious Barrage is still the auto-include of course.
What will be interesting to see is the choices Maksim players make. We can probably squeeze unit count down to 25-26, and once you add signature cards, 3 promotions and 3 barrages, that leaves 15 card slots. It then gets a hard choice how many copies of this, To Arms and the various supports you choose to run...
Can you use this to put a troop transport into play if you already played one in the deploy phase?
Yep. See "Limited", RRG, page 10.
