Potential trough-away body for Captain Markis and Coteaz but otherwise does not hold much worth just yet. The lack of Command is hurting it and so is it's ability.

While a 2/2 body still is very good for its cost it does not allow you to reliable win planets with it.

Currently 2/5

Its rating might go up once we see more synergy for it. Promotion/To Arms! still seem to be a better option to include at the 0 cost slot.

I think this is one for when AM get even more crazy card draw. The question is does his Forced Reaction occur before or after you claim victory for the planet? If it's after then he's a solid Planet 1 drop as your opponent has to do something about him or lose the planet.

This card screams Coteaz all over it...3/5 for now. 4/5 when Coteaz arrives.

Play it when you need (more) free ammunition for Coteaz, Markis or Noble Deed? Depending on the situation, feel free to use it in/with Glorious Intervention, Formosan Black Ship or The Emperor Protects? Why would the Emperor protect this guy is a whole different story.

Willing to try it with Coteaz. And maybe some Ork ammo depot oriented deck (AM has tons of cheap stuff).

It's 0 cost, it's the prefect extra punch to win a fight in the first planet. And if played when you have already spent all your gold, the opponent may not expect it coming.

It's got good stats considering it only has the cost of a card, and most cheap cards won't survive their first battle anyway. On top of that, it's an AM unit and they have a bunch of cards that make them want to sacrafice units, so it's nice to have a target that's going to be gone anyway. I'd say 4/5.

There's a synergy here with Ammo Depot that can't be overlooked, and its part of a broader almost-mono AM deck pattern. I expect to be using it shortly after we see the pieces fall in place in the Zogwort's Curse expansion.

2 Attack, eligible for Preemptive Barrage, can be dropped in with Staging Ground, has a decent attack value for Noble Deed.

Yep, this is a card that is going in 3x when I build that deck.

After all, that deck is going to be want almost mono-AM, and is going to want as many 0-2 costs as possible. Even with Tallarn and Iron Guard, there's room for this card too.

Well with the Staging Ground we've found some real synergy for it! Will update the rating on this card as soon as we have Staging Ground available ;).

While good with Ammo Depot, the downside of this card is that it's counter productive to AMs biggest strenght (putting out cards with good Command) currently. While Cotaez can make more use out of it due to 8 cards from the start I really don't need this card in my initial hand with Straken. Actually, I'd rather have Goff Boyz for him, 4/2 seems to be a thing (or at least that's what the Bork'an Recruits told me).

Well, depending on initiative and barring shielding, a 2/2 can kill a 4/2 as well as vice versa.

I like it for an Ammo Depot deck. Its a zero cost slightly-rushy card, good enough for me.

Hmmm, something spotted by my opponent last night that I hadn't considered, in my myopia.

If you can retreat this unit before the battle ends, it lives to fight another day, as the Forced Reaction needs it to be at the planet at battle end.

Well, I guess if he gets Nurgling Bombed, I'll be sure to rout him.

A zero cost event without shields that does 2 damage to an enemy unit or absorbs an enemy attack.

Both of those effects are worth expending a card for imo, and these pretty much describe a worst case scenario for it.

I was wondering about this guy - if he is at plannum and you win the battle there, can you trigger the battle ability to move him before the forced response kills him off? The reason I ask is that battle abilities are triggered when you win a battle (RRG, pg 4 & 26), and the forced response is worded so that it triggers after you win a battle.

I'm not sure if that's exactly how it works though.

After reading the wording a few times I'm inclined to think that he would die before you can trigger the ability, but i would appreciate another perspective.

Yeah, with it being a Forced Reaction, I'm pretty certain you can't save him.

I think a battle technically ends after you win it, not after a Battle Ability triggers.

The above answer, that the Forced Reaction to the battle ending will trigger before the battle ability, is true and has been confirmed by the design team.

this card has been wonderful in my ammo depot staging ground zogwort deck.

Dropping it in and out of the deck, can't seem to decide whether its worthwhile or not...

Thats a hallmark of good card design, in my books. :)

This card looks really sexy with Staging Ground!

I haven't played a Staging Ground deck yet, but I couldn't imagine not running 3x of these guys. You have to pay the deploy cost with SG and free is the best cost.

I'll be testing a SG rush deck with 3x of these. My only concern about the Wardens, so to say, is that the deck seems to be so cheap that I might actually have extra resources to pay for something better when using SG, and without setting myself back.

I'm on a "don't run them" phase right now, though I might drop back again.

One thing to consider, I think, is not so much how much you can afford out of Staging Ground, but what the 0-cost does to the overall cost curve of the deck, and what expensive goodies (4+ cost) this lets you run that might have been impractical otherwise.

Wth that in mind, this card will likely go back in for me when I see a really great AM card that costs 5 resources or more. Currently Leman Russ is okay, but hardly mindblowing, and entirely affordable in my Staging deck without needing 0 cost units. However, if we see something of Bloodletters-level of quality, that'll very much incline me to use Wardens.

I feel exactly the opposite for them at the moment. I love them in my staging ground deck! My only qualm is that they lack the solider trait. If they had that then they would be brilliant!

The above answer, that the Forced Reaction to the battle ending will trigger before the battle ability, is true and has been confirmed by the design team.

I'd love to have a source for that. Would you mind enlightening me? Or do you mean "A battle ends when a unit would attack, but there are no enemy units at the planet where the battle is occurring" from the FAQ? Timingwise that still means I get to trigger the battle ability of the planet and take it (if first) though, right?

Very similar rules question on this thread:

http://www.cardgamed...expire-exactly/

I agreed with you - I felt that the phrasing of the RRG has battle abilities occurring as an interrupt to battle ending, and thus simultaneous to any ongoing effects relating to battle ending took place. See post #16 for my dissection of why.

Ktom was good enough to be uncertain, so he messaged the designer team.

Their answer was:

sequence is:

1. Battle Ends

2. Winner/loser is determined

3. Winner triggers battle ability

Essentially that means that the "battle ends before battle ability is triggered" has been confirmed by FFG.

That means, unfortunately, that you have to sacrifice the Mystic Warden before you can move him with Plannum's battle ability.
