Two eligible targets at present for granting Ranged: Kabalite Strike Force and Sybarite Marksman. Of these two, the former is a strong combo that gives a ranegd AoE strike, the latter already has ranged.
This card is weak as anything right now, as to be beneficial it really demands at least 10/50 cards in your deck that will be strong targets. Likely this will require a Signature Squad with the Kabalite trait, so I predict cycle 3 DE Warlord as Asdrubael Vect!
1/5
Attachment that currently is very limited in it's use. It does seem to be trending that the Dark Eldar have bad Attachments for their own units.
The +1 ATK is not enough to make up for it's cost (see Ion Rifle or Banshee Powe Sword), the added Ranged ability is to limited currently.
1/5 (could get a rating of 3/5 if we see new multiple Kabalite units that are allready good by themself)
I think this is best used is a Zarathur deck: Protect your units against your own warpstorm, plus, if you're running Kabalite Strike Force, it's a Ranged AoE of 3 (assuming Zarathur goes to the planet the unit is at). That's not too shabby - but in DE decks as of now...meh.
3/5 for Zarathur(splashing DE Strike Force)
1/5 for DE decks
This doesn't boost aoe. Just attack
I think its obvious that there will be more Kabalite units in the future, some of which who are not ranged. This is a very good card in cases with Kabalites so I think it deserves a much higher rating than 1/5. At least a 3/5.
In fact now that I confirmed, the strike force is a Kabalite, which even in the current meta gives you the quick potential to carry out a Ranged, Area (1) attack! This just solidifies that this is not a bad card. 4/5
Another edit..
Indeed with Zarathur, this now becomes a Ranged Area (2) attack. Not a bad way to start a battle. Opponents will be hard pressed not to wipe most of their board.
In the future, sure, but we can't really rate cards based on speculation in the future without previews. Sure, if we see an AoE 4 Kabalite, then this card will be amazing. If we see a Kabalite that gains +2 attack per piece of wargear it has, it'll be amazing.
What we're actually looking at right now is ONE good candidate for this attachment, the Kabalite Strike Force, with a combo dependent 2C/3R for a 0/3/2 unit with AoE 1 Ranged. Even if you luck into the combo, its not enough to be worthwhile.
The Sybarite marksman is too fragile to put attachments on and already ranged, and the Halfblood Kabalite previewed is clearly designed to be killed / calamitied.
Once we see a Kabalite Warlord, most likely some time in the NEXT cycle, it may become worthwhile. BUt based on knowledge of present and future cards that we currently hold, its a 1/5.
(Sentimental Marine) The original name of this card was "Kabalite Chewingum". It was changed to the current name upon a special request from the CEO of FFG who explicitely desired to sell each piece of this card for 400 USD. Reminders that "this game was an LCG and not a CCG" didn't bring chewing gum back ...but the essence of the card endured!
