Puts 2 Command units like Soaring Falcon, Vash'Ya Trailblazer or Vile Raider into play for 1 resource (but takes a card slot) but only at the last planet. Can even be used on the Piranha Hunter - put it somewhere relatively safe to ensure you get the draw in the Combat Phase. A nice, solid card that really helps Eldar manage their resource curve.
EDIT: I do wonder if this is an indication that the Phoenix Lord Warlord we'll be getting in Descendants of Isha will be Baharroth with a mobile Swooping Hawk Signature Squad...
Math wrath time!
On paper, this effect is broadly inefficient. We're looking at -1C to save -3R in best circumstance, and probably -2R in most circumstances. This saving requires a collision of cards in hand to form the combo, and requires a situation when playing to the last planet is a beneficial move. On the upside, it creates a tempo advantage on turn 1, and creates a greater presence in the final turns when you have more cards than resources.
Its that latter statement that makes this stronger, as we all know from playing Eldorath that its not at all uncommon for Eldorath to play a 6-7 turn game, and for him to be on 10+ cards in hand with not enough resources to play them all. This card helps translate long term planning into game win condition, and that gives it value.
As a non-Eldar card it'd be 2/5. For Eldorath and Eldar, its 3/5, soon to climb to 4/5 if we get more applicable targets in the coming packs or if we get a mobile Eldar signature squad.
As to Baharroth, I gotta say I called that one months ago! However, I'd still only place 60% or so odds on that...
I hear ya, brother.
Months ago was pure guesswork though - support for Mobile definitely reinforces the theory
Very powerfull card that currently would deserve a rating of 3/5 at max. However since we know there will be at least some extra heavy costed Mobile units around I feel this card will go to a 4/5 rating.
When the last Warlord of Eldar would include Mobile signature units (with a cost of 3) this card could even grow further to a 5/5.
Lets hope it's much like Kau'yon Strike in the sence that it will get more cards to synergize with.
Currently a 3/5 rating, quite likely to grow to 4/5 or even 5/5 depending on the quantity of viable Mobile cards.
Now that Baharroth is out...has this card's stock gone up?
I say, yes, but not by enough. The problem is, to include Mobile units of sufficient worth (i.e. 3 or 4 cost) you have to start running units you wouldn't have done otherwise, like Vile Raider or Piranha Hunter.
The addition of the Hawks sig squad has proven to be insufficient, as the Hawks aren't that great unless the Warlord is about, and often being up on Planet 5 means they spend at least a turn being a step or two away from where the Warlord needs to be in a given turn.
What this card needs really is one more Eldar or allied mobile unit that costs 3 or 4 and which is strong enough that an Eldar deck would have included it anyway.
I'd say its still 3/5. Give me one more strong Eldar mobile unit, and it's 4/5
"Vectored Vyper Squad reads: This unit gains Mobile while it is undamaged."
Can Death from Above work on Vectored Vyper Squad, since the card does not have actual keyword "Mobile" printed on the card?
I guess the question would be would the card be considered having mobile keyword if it's in your hand, and cards in your hand are technically considered out of play.
sadly no
Yeah Vectored Vyper Squad is not a very nice card in any way (to put it very un-bluntly - it's actually complete s***) but I recommend the Vile Raider and Soaring Falcon instead with Death from Above in Baharroth.
Especially the former is crazy at 1-cost resource-wise
Amusing to come back to this card now, with the new prevalence of elite units and the Bonesinger Choir to reliably discount Eldar vehicles. The rating has, if anything, had to go down: its only real targets are the Swooping Hawk squad or perhaps an allied unit.
