Good card for army military builds like Targ Dothraki or House Dayne Martell and for heavy influence decks usually with agendaKnights of the Hollow Hill (MotM). Conversion betweend influence and gold can genrate easily 2-6 gold every turn giving by itself 1-2 goos army character in play and allowing to ignore nerving Blockade (Core) Cost of 1 is nothing for Targeryans but even out of House 3 gold will be repayed by this card quite quickly. I'm quite surprised that it is not popular in many army builds so far. It's for sure good to test.

Can this work to pay influence for a card like Southron Mercenaries (TBoBB) coming out of shadows? Don't expect so.

I suppouse so. I mean, the card doesn't say it has to be an in-house army, and as long it doesn't say anything about "playing", "put into play" or so, I assume you coud kneel 6 influence to bring it out of shadows.

I guess it would work during the marshalling phase, but not any other phase as the card stats during the marshalling phase use influence

Does using influence with this count as an influence cost for cards like Starfall Merchant? or is it still a gold cost that just happens to use influence
