They're different and you can have both in play at the same time.

Not clear what you mean. Are you are saying that even if there are different tokens and abilities for IG-88. The fact that they have the same title means that you can only play one at any given time?
The rules, page 26 make it clear only one card with a unique icon by its name can be in play at any given time.
Note that they do not have the same title. There's a "B" added on this card.
These are not the same card. This card is IG-88B. There is no other IG-88B in the game. There is an IG-88, which is a different card, different unit, and has a different title. Pg 26 is clear, but also has no bearing on IG-88B and IG-88 being in play together as they are different cards.
Your right! This IG-88 has a B in its title....this is what happens when you are so familiar with a character you forget to read the card title closely enough.
At first it felt like a typo (with old man's eyes it really looks like its written IG-888)
Then I read it correctly and I remembered that there was four of them. Maybe one day we will have 4 IG-88 pods

K4 in this set cleans up. IG-88B pings exhausted Solidarity Home One, pulling it into combat. K4 does a damage with its text, and then with its extra gun from IG-88B, finishes Home One off. 4 health mains are not safe.
Looks like you were right
