I would have preferred "Words are wind, and the wind from Manderly's mouth means no more than the wind escaping from his bottom."

Manderly should have been:

Dominance: Kneel Wyman Manderly to discard (cannot be saved) a kneeling non-unique character with STR less than Wyman Manderly's. Then, attach that card to Wyman Manderly as a duplicate.

Wyman Manderly adds the printed STR of any non-unique cards attached to him as duplicates.

Timing that right during some burn and all of a sudden War Host of the North is duped on him and he's 14STR. Yeah, no.

Fair enough. Take out the Cannot Be Saved and add in that it has to be a character you don't control.

Is it so wrong to want a Manderly that's a bit more... deadly?

Its wrong to want a character that will totally unbalance the game. And your toned down version is still broken. Seriously, he's a great character as he is, why would you want to mess with him?
