The big man himself, a great AM Warlord that I feel fits the fluff of AM very much altough he is an Inquisitor.

Normally if this Warlord would have started out with a 7-7 opening I would have rated him 3/5 with the same abilities.

However due to the fact he starts at a whopping 8-8 in a faction that allready has a Strong Command he is a great Warlord for sure.

5/5

Hopefully the next Warpack will bring him more Token creaters as this will significantly boost his power. Like Snotling Attack.

played a couple of games with him and WOW he has combos with his unique units. Catichan outpost with him allows him to get two attacks off a turn (sacrificing one of his henchmen) and allowing him to stand up after playing a card like muster the guard to get out a lot of units. He will need to run heavier on army units then other warlords because he can burn through them so fast. Ammo depot is really nice for that to allow the card draw he needs.

What are the chances we'll see some form of limited army unit recursion for AM?  Like a Holy Sepulchre that works for AM.  I think that might be what Coteaz needs to counter the loss of units for his ability.  Or possibly recurring his Henchmen may be too powerful.  Who knows?

EDIT:  Not including The Emperor Protects, obviously!

If that will come around I have the feeling that Ammo Depot will be quickly changed out for it as the recursion of cheaper bodies really is a very powerfull ability, in special if it is also able to hit non-AM aka Traders and Pirates.

I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility, especially with all the low-cost, Ally-hate that seems to be entering the cardpool!

Can I sacrifice 2 units in a row using his ability and just get 1 of the "+3 ATK" or do I have to wait until after he attacks to use the combat action again?

Ie.

Can I shoot with a mortar squad and then sac a dude to the warlord to ready the mortar squad and then shoot with the mortar and then sac another dude to ready the mortar?

Not sure how the check works with his "Limit once per attack. " Not sure if this applies to the "+3 attack" , the sacrafice of the unit, or both?

>>Can I sacrifice 2 units in a row using his ability and just get 1 of the "+3 ATK" or do I have to wait until after he attacks to use the combat action again?

No, you can't, you must wait to his next attack. His "Limit once per attack" refers to his entire Combat Action.

>>Can I shoot with a mortar squad and then sac a dude to the warlord to ready the mortar squad and then shoot with the mortar and then sac another dude to ready the mortar?

Yes, you can, but you need multiple possible actions to sacrifice troops. So, with the Coteaz action you only can sacrifice 1 troop for the mortar. You can sacrifice another troop if you have Markis for example. But you cannot use the same Sacrifice to pay 2 different costs (you cannot Sacrifice one troop to boost Coteaz and use the Markis Action, each one need his own sacrifice). The Mortar works with all sacrifices because is a Reaction to an army unit (not token) leaving play, not a cost you must pay.

The full text of his Combat Action, so both.

Hope this helps

Essentially, once you sacrifice a unit to give Corteaz +3 for his next attack, the "limit once per attack" means you cannot sacrifice another unit with Corteaz's ability until after he actually attacks.

This is based in the rule that says you may not trigger a card ability whose effect will not change the game state. You cannot trigger Corteaz's ability if it will not raise his attack STR for his next attack -- no matter how beneficial it would be to pay the cost of sacrificing a unit in order to create additional triggering conditions.

Thanks guys .

Perfect answers.

Quick clarification about the synergy with his Henchmen:

Because it requires a combat action (which happens before the attack), it is not possible to ready him with the same Henchmen unit (that readies your warlord upon leaving play) sacrificed to give him +3 attack, is that correct?
