http://www.whitebook...-sea-episode-4/This week Pontus & Jakob H. are joined by the Czech Republic’s finest!
Andre Sestak is the heart and soul of the Czech community and organizes mighty fine tournaments on a monthly basis. With him he has the shy but highly skilled Ondrej “Raius†Kubis who made the Top 4 in Stahleck last year. What made them first catch interest in the game? What triggered the massive amounts of spoilers coming from the Czech translator? And why is the translation process like for the Czechs?
Listen in to get your answers and much more!
What next time as we dive into the general depravity and awesomeness that is the Polish Meta. Tune in live @ Twitch.tv/Agotnordic – 21:00 CET, 28th of April.

Thanks Pontus and Jakob for the podcast! To be honest: it was my first episode of Across the Narrow Sea (I missed the first three somehow), but I promise I will do my homework later.
I like the idea of meta-traveling from episode to episode. Best regards to Ondrej and Andre. Nice stories, especially about translation. It seems that an idea of buying Czech cards to learn your language can be dangerous
I would like to encourage everyone to come to Prague. I have only been on Czech Regionals once, but since that I always think about coming back every time a spring comes closer. It as a "must go there" tournament, even if I know that it is impossible to go. But I always try to at least contact Andre, who really is a TO hero and a great person.
So everyone, come to Prague. And to Fracas. And Stahleck. And everywhere you can
I decided to not post any episodes on the frontpage until I liked the production quality. The previous ones have great content but they are a little lower quality video-wise I think.
Thanks for the info!
I found the hidden chambers with episodes on The White Book page and its quality is not that bad (I know, I know, you Swedes are perfectionists). Speaking about perfectionism, I'm listening to Pontus speaking German now.
Respect and thanks for you work!
Nice episode! I can see why Andre is Pontus's hero!
Shame to hear about the disasters in translation - I know there were even versions of the same card on the Czech and Slovak distributors using different translations... it sounds like a mess.
In my efforts copy-editing/proofing for FFG, I've tried to keep translation in mind for likely linguistic difficulties... but sadly, I don't speak any slavic languages, so I have no frame of reference there for what might be problematic. And nothing I do will help if they randomly switch translators who have no regard for previous templating.
I know that the French translation has racked up some criticism for being too... "florid" - the translator has attempted to make some of the text more beautiful at the expense of precision required for game rules. I don't know yet how often that's resulted in problems (aside from space on cards), but it's my understanding that the German translation, at least, has been quite good this time around!
Raius one of the best players i have met! Czech meta ftw!
So is this a polite way of saying that I have a face made for radio?
