I don't currently play, and I just started listening to the podcast from the beginning. It makes me want to get a core set again. Steward of Gondor.

Leadership is definitely better at questing than Spirit in the long term.  I feel like Spirit is necessary to get past the first two turns.  After that, Leadership will likely out pace them at a considerable rate.

Depends on the cards you use. If you don't have Visionary Leadership, Faramir, or Sword That Was Broken (Is Super Broken), then a Leadership deck isn't questing as efficiently.

I don't disagree, that's why it takes the Leadership deck longer to get establish, due to the requirement of additional in-sphere cards but since spirit doesn't have access to those types of effects (in sphere), Leadership will quickly out pace them.

Without the resource acceleration that Leadership offers, it also takes Spirit longer to get their allies out.  Obviously it depends on the deck and draw and what not, but a mono-spirit is going to be out-quested by a mono-Leadership deck that is built to quest (so it is including things like those cards you mention).

Like I mentioned before, Spirits strength actually comes from their initial questing capability.   To quest for 12 first turn with just heroes is a pretty big deal.

Leadership can only reach 9 in heroes and that is with a garbage fellowship of Celeborn, Sam and Thorin.  More than likely you'll reach around 6 first turn.
