Elder Things Episode Six

Call of Cthulhu Podcast Elder Things

Sorry this took so long to get out, we ran into some recording issues that basically made most of the podcast unusable and had to re-record the entire episode. Now that we know what to watch for it shouldn't happen again at least.

I only use clear sleeves. I do not understand what people have against them. The art on the back is so good.. why hide it?
I usually use clear FFG sleeves for my LCG's, however the tournament rules require the use of opaque sleeves. The idea is that someone could theoretically mark their cards so they could cheat. So if you aren't in a tournament then I say clear is great.
Netrunner is the first LCG I've been playing using clear sleeves - mostly because there aren't yet any art-sleeves for the game. I was a bit worried they might be too flimsy, but they work quite well. I'm using the ones from FFG, since I hoped they'd fit best, but they're still quite a bit larger than the cards.

I'd also use them for the LotR LCG, since I love the cardback art, but some of the cards (Core Set Gandalf!) already show signs of use, making them recognizable. Obviously, I played too many games with the unsleeved cards.

Using clear sleeves is also not possible when you include some of the alternate art cards from the kits since those have been printed on demand. The colours are noticably not as saturated as for regular cards.
I think in comps then opaque sleeves are needed but I still prefer clear. I use clear on all my LCGs. Also if you use Dragon Shields they fit really well, much better than the ffg sleeves.
