Banter Behind the Throne Episode 18

podcast mrdav banterbehindthethrone oldshrimpeyes Game of Thrones

I've returned from Worlds so a lot of this episode is dedicated to recapping that. Then answer Mach's important question from last week - Who is the Right Joffrey Baratheon?
Finally, we talk cards beginning with P.

Warning: This Episode does not include comprehensive Spice Girls coverage. It is, however, NSFW.

His name is Ryan,
He'll send you cryin',
When he puts you in an ornrey, drunken Limerick!

In other news, very excited for more banter!

i was gone listen but now that i wont find out any news on baby spice i think i will have to pass. ;)

fun episode as always guys.

I'm declaring this the best cast yet for mentioning my favorite card starting with any letter: Rorge!

My dearest and most banter deck in 1.0 is Cersei's Wheelhouse of Dreams, letting you go first with stupid high claim, opening with Rorge and focused offense. If I leave you with characters or cards during your challenges, I've made a mistake.

It took second at a local with ~20, losing only to The Mad King John Bruno in the finals. Bad cards for life!

Yes Ryan! - 'hyperclaim' is a beauty - we like it out of Greyjoy Conq Martell. I took it to top 4 in a 30-something tourney and it just made people sad.

Noj, I'll try and rectify that soon.

Living in Argentina, and playing mostly with friends and a small local meta, I hadn't really heard/read in detail what happened in the melee final until this cast. First of all, props for being gracious in defeat, ever the British gentleman. However, what they did was such a load of BS.

I don't attend major international tournaments. I doubt I ever will. But I still enjoy watching the games, and seeing the decisions made by players that far exceed me in skill. I love watching them predict a plot, sidestep a nasty event, and sometimes even make stupid mistakes, making me feel a bit better about my own. What is not enjoyable to see, as a spectator, is someone being crowned a Wold Champion due to having more friends on the melee table, and on the championship as a whole.

It's such a pity too. I love melee; I feel the new rules are great, and the possibility of creating and breaking pacts, makes it deep, intricate, and extremely entertaining to play and watch. And yet players who choose to play it in this way, turn it into a dull and rather pathetic affair.

A melee game played with my friends at home, while drinking booze and discussing girls, using cheap printed proxies, is more competitive than the World Championship final table. Woeful state of things.

Just to be picky, I showed that deck to noj and Drakey but the vast majority of improvements were mine (some Drakey's, none Jon's who liked the deck but didn't actually edit it at all). The hell if I'm magnanimously sharing credit with them!
