Beyond the Wall, Season 1 Episode 15

In this week's episode, Istaril and Darknoj briefly go over some FFG news. Then, with guest Aaron G., we give you part three of our series featuring a house and where it stands in the new meta. Once again, we each build a competitive Martell deck to test with or against in your tournament preparations. Finally, in our closing comments, we announce upcoming regionals and discuss some upcoming podcast plans.

NOTE: As the cast was pre-recorded due to Istaril's travel, he'd like to make the following addenda
1) I was mistaken, the first North American Nationals started this last weekend in Texas. For some reason I had the date of that tourney as the 17th.
2) Keep an eye out for Martell Bloodthirst, which did exceptionally well at Milano Goes to Stahleck!

Glad you liked the deck, Jon :P
The Texas regional was originally announced on the FFG sure for the 17th, but it was changed (by FFG) due to a conflict with other LCG regionals in the region.
<binder> I hope everyone sticking The Lost Message into their season deck realizes that the effect is passive and therefore if your opponent controls no attachments you'll be discarding your own raven </binder>
I was wondering if anyone would run Lost Message. Nice to see it has value to some players.
Good point OkTarg but if you use it as your last plot you can search out another raven next plot with a time for ravens so you lose the raven for only 1 challenge round but 2 draws (meaning two draw phases..i.e. a lose of two cards from the agenda).

Fair enough, I guess, but he's only running one Sam and to have him in play turn 8 seems a bit far-fetched.

If you're looking for extra anti-winter tech, I'd say that three ravens and one shores of the summer sea are better than the extra raven discard--and that's saying something. I just think the raven plot will hit yourself so much that it's hard to stomach on a 3-0-1 prized plot.

@PulseGlazer: have you tested seasons with the Lost Message? Would love to be proved wrong here.
Mirroring sentiments shared in the podcast, TOW absolutely eats Martell alive if you are not running Ghaston tech. I love your answers to burn in the Quentin deck, and if you can provide some answers to TOW in that deck, I really like the build. I have been toying around with something similar, but the Alchemists might push it over the top for me. I also think Vargo is an auto-include in this build. Wins you the mirror and worst case he is a renown body on To the Spears turn.

Great stuff as always.

I ran Lost message in a seasons deck at the weekend. It was nice back up, but I mostly used it to remove frozen solids from the scourge. If it came down to it there would likely have been a HCiT I could have removed over my own raven
Awritt - I'd love to see a tweaked list if you find some space for anti-Old Way Tech. The drawback with trying to build a good deck per week for the cast, on top of everything else, is that I've had almost no time to tweak anything these days!

I believe your gets mentions at one point in the podcast, a tactic of giving Spy from Starfall an icon with Greenblood Merchant, then using her in that way. Based on the card text, I believe her effect would make her not count her strength as well. Is this the case?

Yes, but this makes it a perfect way to ensure that no-one wins the challenge if there are no "monocons" in it. So it is mostly a defensive use

iTunes sent me last week's episode and doesn't have this week's available for download. Thought I'd let you know...commute ruined!
NedStark - I'm sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, I really can't look into it until Sunday, when I'm back somewhere in the vicinity of home for about 5 hrs. I'll let you know as soon as I get a solution!

Finally having the chance to catch up. Good to hear about Art of Seduction some more. It is absolutely all over the place here right now.
