Beyond the Wall Istaril Darknoj Starter Decks Mark D. Peter W. Salim H. Podcast AGOT
In this week's episode, Istaril and Darknoj start by discussing the new FAQ and other FFG and regional-related news. We then focus this episode on the new player/meta experience, introducing a pair of 'starter' decks we think are well-suited to getting people hooked on the game. We then interviewed Mark D. from Missouri, who took 2nd in his first regional after 3 months playing AGOT, and both Peter W. and Salim H. to chat about the meteoric rise of the Montreal Meta. Finally, in the closing comments, we go over this next week's upcoming tournaments.

The one big difference in mine is that I don't include any deadly. In my experience, it's the hardest keyword for new players to understand.
Any chance of getting starter decks for the other houses to convey their general strategies?
If we do starter decks for the other houses, we'll probably pair them up. It's much easier to balance two decks (1 pairing) than all the potential pairings with 6 decks!
If these decks are well-liked, we'll probably do it again - which two houses should we pair?
Nice cast guys. Its a bummer about missing out on the Boston Meta segment, maybe you can cut another version of that if/when you do more houses?
Also cool to see you used Marbrand, I was questioning that cards worth the other day in the Skype group...
As for the next houses to pair? My vote would be for Targ / Martell.
Targ/Martell or Baratheon/Targ. Would you consider these decks just for joust play or you think they would be good for melee play as well. A lot of the people at the game store I run tend to enjoy multiplayer games more often.
Hmm, I think they might be a little slow for Melee play - I'd aim for a little more renown overall, but I'm glad you brought that up. We could definitely try a 'melee box set' of 4 decks to shake things up - since that's only one 'match-up' to test.
Love the "starter" deck idea for each House. Kinda surprised you decided to go with the Ashemark/Knight/Dagger discard synergy for Lanni. It's a relatively new mechanic for them, but I suppose it helps new players realize how recursion fits into this game as a deck-building theme. Just surprised it's in the Lanni starter and not Bara! All around great 'cast as usual. Can't wait for the other 4 "starter" decks!
