Beyond the Wall Istaril Darknoj Ratatoskr Localization Combo Podcast AGOT
Click here for the podcastIn this week's episode, Istaril and Darknoj start by discussing the new CP announcement, the lamentable dearth of regional-related news, and some information regarding Nationals, followed by a discussion of some new combo decks that have surfaced since the FAQ5.01. We then had Helmut H (Ratatoskr) explain to us the process of localization and the difficulties in maintaining seperate cardpools in seperate countries. Finally, in the closing comments, we go over the few upcomming tournaments in this apparent late-season lull.
Erratum: The St Petersburg regional has been delayed to August, date to be confirmed.

Martell / Bloodthirst (Author Jorge C.)
Plots (7)
And the other combo posted (Poster Dominic K.)
so this is just loop for gold? not for 15 power in a row, right? (or am i not seeing smth here?)
When you use Balerion before you ambush in a character they claim 1 power.. if you use it 15 times in a row then ambush in a character that character will claim 15 power. 1 power for each trigger of Balerion.
i still dont get it
sorry not good with Targs
but he is ambushing Xaro here so he loses the gained power when back to hand every time?
No, he uses the Xaro/Poisoned Well/Dany's Chambers combo plus the gold he has made off of Coin Mint to play, trigger, get back and play again Balerion 15 times. Then he ambushes in any character with Ambush he has in his hand. Since Balerion was triggered 15 times, that character claims 15 x 1 power.
BT use Scheming on the Sand to cycle plots to win. He use's blessed by the madin to put a Scheming on the Sand, a Blessed by the madin, a Prepare for War and / or floodwaters back in deck. The flood waters to get them all to hand. He does this a bunch in different combos to get all of each of these back in hand but for 1x blessed. Then he cyles some plots using his extra blessed to stack his deck correctly then starts it all again. The plots also help him get cards back to hand.
Its a combo that the cards change a bit each time you recycle. At some points you can easily reveal and add to hand 4 or 5 cards at a time. Then you win from Winter festival.
Is the "Blessed by madin" a typo or intentional?
Other than that, I am looking forward to listen to the interview with Helmut. Curious what he has to say about translation and the german meta...
@Ratatoskr ohhhhhh. now I see it, thanks! good combo
Erratum: The St. Petersburg regional has been delayed until August, date to be confirmed shortly.
Finally had the chance to listen while I went on a jog last night. Good episode, and interesting to hear about the translation difficulties.
As for the Quentyn Combo, I must admit that I played him in my Reanimator at OK and MO and won two games that I recall off hand by "comboing out" to claim 4 power with him during the marshalling phase. What it took was a lot of influence, See Who is Stronger, Harrenhal, and some marshalling phase triggers. Essentially, you get Quentyn in play, then kneel something like Stormlands Fiefdom and cancel that by killing your own Quentyn to Harrenhal and claim his power. Then with Robert, Pyre, or another copy of SWiS, bring him back and repeat.
It's awfully resource intensive, however, so I think the odds of doing it more than twice a turn are pretty low in my deck. Since listening, I've been trying to wrack my brain to see if I can figure out a way to go infinite with it, but it really feels like it's constricted by resources no matter which way I turn (much as I talked about on 2C1C this week). We can't go infinite influence out of Baratheon since we would lack access to Prepare for War. We can't use infinite influence to power See Who is Stronger out of Martell because it's house only. That seems to leave Judged by the Father, which returns to hand, so we would need infinite gold. Of course, assuming we could adapt the Balerion combo to generate infinite gold here, we'll also need infinite triggers for Harrenhal to cancel. This could conceivably overlap with infinite influence by using Prepare for War to stand our influence providers and Fiefdoms. Of course, then we run into the issue of only being able to cancel 3 times per Harrenhal since we won't be able to do this inside the same Response window. Which means that we'll need Supported by the Smith to bring lost Harrenhals back to play, which means we do need the infinite influence loop. But of course, every time we do this, we do generate some power for the opponent due to Harrenhal's prized. Sure, we'll be ahead 6 to 2 each time, but it feels like this would need a good bit of time to get set up, so there's the not inconceivable possibility that two loops giving 4 power to the opponent might give them the game.
Still, that's just me spitballing as I try to work it through in my head. Someone else might note something that I've missed.
Yeah, I haven't had a chance to dedicate the time to figure out if it, as an infinite combo, is something real or just exaggerated through the rumour mill (or someone's fit of hysteria). It certainly requires cycling both Quentyn (or Septon?) and Harrenhall, as it can't be done within the same action window to make use of a Moribund Harrenhal.
