Nice to hear the designer admit that they dropped stalwart because it's a bad mechanic.
I dunno if it's "dropped" because its "bad", per se. The impression I got was more that if it becomes too prevalent, its a mechanic that leads to static game states.

I think it's interesting though, because the proposals circulating around the boards don't really change that. For instance, making Stalwart optional makes the keyword better, but doesn't really make it less likely to result in a sluggish game if it starts to see too much play.

So I'd say it's a flawed mechanic in that it's inherently limited - you can't give it much support.

I really enjoyed the episode. I love the "challenge" that Nate presented the community with.

I won't say what it is here. You gotta listen to the episode to find out!
Making stalwort optional would be totally awesome.
Finally had the chance to listen to your latest. Great episode and thanks for propping our ubersode, episode 100.

So, if Designers make the game fun, and Developers make the game fair, would it perhaps be accurate to say that Producers make the game happen?
