Beyond the Wall, Season 2 Episode 14

Beyond the Wall Istaril Darknoj Sirduck r480 Listener Questions Champion Card Spoiler Podcast AGOT

In this week's episode, we keep the intro brief to jump right into our (awesome) main story: not only did we secure an amazing spoiler for the very last chapter pack, but its designer, 2012 Overall World Champion Derek (SirDuck) joins us to tell us the story behind his card. As if that were not enough, we follow it up by having fan favourite Raul (r480) come on to help us answer our second installment of listener questions, answering questions that range from the very basic to the extremely speculative. Finally, we close off with the usual reminder - regional season is coming!

Great episode!  Really liked listening to Derek's creation story for his card.  I am also disappointed to hear that FFG put the kibosh on printing characters that come from before book 1.  That was my dream!  Rickard Stark would have been AWESOME!  But I like where the card went instead, congrats on the last champ card for 1.0!  Can't wait to see how awesome itlooks

I also enjoy hearing from the champs about their card designs. The Northern Patriarch sounds awesome, although I'm not sure if it's powerful enough to warrant more than a single slot in decks. 3 for 3 MIL POW is such a competitive slot.

The link to the card is now up. If you want to share it elsewhere, go ahead - but please refer people to the cast. I think there's a great story behind the card, not only in the technical aspects of the design and the mechanics, but the (very personal) inspiration for the card, and it'd be a shame to let that aspect of the champion card fall by the wayside.
