Beyond the Wall Vaapad Istaril Darknoj Matthew H. 2.0 Plots Gencon The Blue is Calling Podcast AGOT
This week, the cast goes up on time! It's been one hectic week with regional news, the gencon event ticket flurry, FFG's 2.0 plot spoiler article... so, of course, we sum up all of that. We follow it up with a discussion, joined by Vaapad, about all the new information touching on 2.0 (especially the Gencon event). On top of that, we bring on Matthew H to help us review the last FFG product to appear in the "old" cardboard packaging: AGOT 1.0's final CP. I'm going to miss that old packaging. Running more than a bit long, we close off by rattling off the names of this weekend's upcoming regionals.

Errata:
Before anyone says anything, yes, I mispronounced Francesco's name. But Jon butchered the table of contents, so on average, we're awful?

There's always that 'day after' feeling after recording a CP review. This time, it's particularly bad: I feel like I should have made the point that Sky Cells (functionally) don't stack very well, and, given the number of rules questions that have come up, explained what False Hunt can cancel.
In short: Everything that reveals/searches card in your deck. It's not limited to triggered effects, so it'll hit Task in the East, Much and More, To be a Wolf, Maester Luwin, Bitterbridge Encampment, A Time for Wolves, Summoning Season, Summoned by the Conclave, Braided Warriors, new Vyman, the Dragon Eggs, Desperate Measures, Harenhal, Search Khal, No Use for Greif, Aeron Damphair...
I haven't listened to the entire cast yet, so if this is addressed I'm sorry.
Have passive effects always been cancellable? Maybe I learned this and forgot, or maybe there just aren't many cards that cancel card effects (as opposed to triggered effects) but my understanding has always been that passives cannot be cancelled.
Most effects with a point of initiation (so not constants) are technically cancellable (claim - red vengeance, challenge resolution - burning on the sands, passives - Kerwin/Wildling Wisewoman), but there are so very few things that cancel them, it usually doesn't matter.
There are some exceptions; keywords, for instance, very specifically cannot be cancelled.
There are very, very few effects available that can cancel a Passive effect. So, yes they've always been possible to cancel, but no, they didn't provide enough of them for it to even matter. Maester Kerwin is really virtually the only one that might be in a deck that can cancel a passive effect in the past.
There's only so much recording we can squeeze in on the weekend itself - that usually means it's fairly difficult for us to schedule get a same-weekend interview with a Regional champ. Even when we can (because it's someone we're regularly in contact with), having to record, edit and assemble on the Sunday night is just... exhausting.
If you're particularly interested in hearing more about his HoD deck and tournament, I'm sure we could hunt him down for a segment next week.
They did have 250+ play testers per a recent article. So, if there were some concerns with income, I'm hoping they'd have said something.
I'm going to hazard a guess that most of the income is going to be from locations, rather than plots, based on what we've seen. +2 gold locations, -2 reducers, etc. I've a feeling that 7 cost characters will be every bit as playable, if not more so, than the 5 gold characters we currently have. After all, I don't think anyone has ever complained that the Red Viper is a bad investment! I have faith in a bright future for expensive characters!
