Beyond the Wall, Season 2 Episode 19

Beyond the Wall Istaril Darknoj LittleC Bruno Regional Champions Melee 2.0 Podcast AGOT

We start off with (quite a lot of) regional, FFG and podcast news, and follow it up with an in-depth look at both the Melee and Rules 2.0 news. To bring it back to 1.0, we bring you two undefeated regional champions; J. Bruno (Vegas) and Seth L. (D.C.) to discsus their tournament, their decks, and the current meta. We close it off with the usual tournament announcements, and a special shout-out/taunt to one of our favourite metas. Well, definitely in our top 30 metas.

P.S. I am aware the demonym for Boston is Bostonian.

Awesome episode today guys. Lots of good discussion. Thanks!

And I'll be at the Durham, North Carolina regional next weekend so you'll definitely get stats for it.

That's quite the shout out! I sure would like to come up to Montreal and see you guys.

As for the Louisville Regional,

I was under the impression the TO was going to enter the results into the annals or else I would have done a very in depth report already :P

I went ahead and tried to fill it in to the best of my knowledge but the only specific order and info I knew was the cut to top 4.

We had the new tourney software, and it crashed causing an hour and a half delay, then everything went alright lol

Top 4 finish was:

1. Greyjoy Old Way (Maiden's Bane)

2. Greyjoy Old Way (Maiden's Bane)

3. Martell Quentyn (Venemous Blade)

4. Targ HoD Aegon's Hill (Bungled Orders)

I wish I had a second Power of Blood in that top 4 with Greyjoy. I took it out for a rally cry lol. I am very tired of Greyjoy already this season haha.

We also had 8 other players:

Stark HoD Bear Island (Fear of Winter)

Stark ? (?)

Lannister NA (Castellan)

Lannister ? (?)

Baratheon (Maester's Path)

Martell Quentyn (Venemous Blade)

Martell HoD (Doran's Solar)

Martell ? (?) (The restricted card was Choosing the Spear standing PotS Red Viper TWICE without either player remembering he was immune to events until I pointed it out to both of them after the game :P)

Also,

Our little casual group that tries to cube draft melee every couple weeks already decided the day of the article we are going to start playing with the new titles as proxies asap. So I will have feedback on that hopefully in a couple weeks after Iowa Regionals and some cube sessions.

Thanks for the info - Ive entered it into the Annals here. If you remember anything else, feel free to add it in - but thats already far more than I had (I only had the winner).

I really look forward to hearing about your experiences with the new titles - if you get a few good stories to tell, hit us up and come on the cast to tell them!

Good. Gooooood.

I have to say, this is by far my favorite episdoe of either podcast. It's refreshing to hear a true champ discuss the meta.

Oh, and that John Bruno guy seemed cool too. Only 14 people at that one but, hey, you gotta start somewhere.

Super you had me rolling on the floor laughing with that comment. I do have to say little C will have his face on a card soon. He is a solid player and deck builder. Also he has the passion for the game you need to win.

Great cast guys.  Really enjoyed the interviews with the 2 regional champs.  Keep up the trend!

Has peer pressure changed the Bostonians minds?

i think the extra day of travel is not possible for them due to life (work). Maybe next year ;)

Thanks! In the episode I am editing right now, we get a chance to dig into a few more situations where it matters (with Like Warm Rain especially!).

Congratulations on your regional win. I hear you gave those opponents a licking...
