Poll: Which House/Build is the Most Competitive?

In light of the upcoming Days of Ice & Fire tournament, I thought it might be interesting to poll players about what they think is the most competitive house. The final results are in. When combined by houses, here’s what we have:

125 votes – FFG Forums/CardGameDB/AgotCards.org
Martell – 48%
Baratheon – 17%
Greyjoy – 10%
Targ – 10%
Stark – 7%
Lannister – 3%
Other – 6%

74 votes – French Forums
Stark – 36%
Martell – 22%
Greyjoy – 13%
Baratheon – 10%
Targaryen – 10%
Lannister – 4%

The most interesting statistic to me in the Stark statistic, in both categories. When I originally posted this poll, I suspected Stark would be upper-middle of the pack. That clearly isn't the case for the general poll, where there was strong consensus that it is not the strongest house. In contrast, Stark easily beat out Martell as the top house in France.

As previous respondents have noted about Lannister, placing near the bottom isn't necessarily an indication that a house is weak...Lannister, for example, might consistently take 2nd or 3rd at major tournaments. There does, however, seem to be consensus across metas that:
  • Martell easily remains one of the most dominant houses. The preferred build appears to be summer.
  • Lannister and Targaryen are least likely to win a major tournament.
  • Greyjoy is fairly competitive, albeit on the fringes. Though I don't have earlier data for comparison, based on the 2011 regionals season (see Thrones Times for a breakdown of house representation) I would guess that Greyjoy has jumped up significantly in competitiveness.
  • Perceptions are largely shaped by the region you play the game in, but not completely confined to it. (For example, excluding Stark and Martell, results from both polls are fairly close.)
I hope you enjoyed this poll. I hope to do more in the future! Here's a link to the data: http://poll.pollcode.com/JADaf

So far there are 49 votes...

5 Baratheon
5 Greyjoy
2 Lannister
28 Martell
4 Stark
2 Targ
3 Other

Looks like Martell is still leading the pack. Is that what everyone here thinks too? (If you haven't already done so, please do vote. I will likely include mention of the results in the upcoming ThronesTimes newsletter.)
I wonder why so few votes for Baratheon maesters?
Good question Michaelius. Following Days of Ice & Fire, I'm hoping to do another poll that separates respondents by region. That way, we can figure out if some areas of the world (for example, US players) have different views from others (Europeans, Chinese, etc.).

As of right now, Bara maester still has about 10% of the vote, whereas everything else is much lower, except for Martell, which remains ahead by a wide margin.
After getting housed by targ maester/burn, Im picking that. New Selmy might put it way over the top imo. In response to Martell, you can't use noble bounce if they're burny dead and viper is not immune to attachments.
I voted bara maester, I'd still expect it to show strong. However I really think just Maester in general will be well represented no matter the house.

I think the issue with Targ Burn is that it can deal with so many different builds - really any of them that have an emphasis on characters. So as soon as it gets to the top of the hill, theres going to be a hell of a time getting it off without printing characters that cannot have their strength reduced.
The same in pool in France give a different result : http://letronedeferj...lus-competitive

Hasn't Maester been neutered quite a bit now? I'm positive it's still among the strongest strategies however it's definitely not the same beast it was at worlds.
Locusshifter - it's certainly different. Before you had the Voltron builds based on certain unique non-Maesters like Robert and Joffrey, now you have dedicated Maester decks out of Targ and Martell, or non-Maester decks where the Maester tech serves as utility additions, e.g. in GJ or Bara. I agree it's still strong.

I would be interested to see a ordered ranking vote, so we could get a better idea of the ranking since I know several houses might not be considered top, but certainly aren't on the bottom either.... like, say, Lannister.
