Targaryen First Cycle Review

Who am I kidding, of course you do!
And here we are. The final review for the first cycle of this game. And just in time, as the next chapter pack is set to be released a week from today! I could have held onto this review until early next week, but I don’t want to compete with the new chapter pack

So, where do we stand with Targaryen? It’s quite interesting, actually. Out of the core set, Targaryen was undoubtedly one of the strongest in the entire game. Targaryen Fealty took Baratheon Fealty down at a time when many (including me) assumed Baratheon was the top tier deck. On the other hand, the banner of the dragon was basically worthless in the core set. With very few high impact non-loyals available beyond Magister Illyrio (but only with Tyrion), Banner of the Dragon was essentially worthless outside of Lannister decks early in the game. Now, Banner of the Dragon is actually very strong, while Targaryen Main House has, arguably, fallen the furthest from where they were in Core, competitively speaking. So what lies in store for Westeros’ once and futures kings/queens? We’ll have to wait for the second cycle to find out.
As for the first cycle, our guest writer for this series finale review goes by the name Sokhar. His friends in the central North Carolina meta call him Justin. He’s played Targaryen for the majority of 2.0, as well as a few years in 1.0.
Here is his opinion on the hand Targaryen was dealt in the first cycle of this new edition of Game of Thrones.

This is the most useful (precise) article of all reviews i've seen so far. I don't see much things missed by Sokhar. Well done
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful.
