Can you link/post some examples for the different deck types you are talking about? I know that you touched a lot of decks, but lists at least for the most important or special ones would be nice.

Check the comments of episode 222 for six decks, but, sure I can pay 1 or 2 decks per house with this episode.

What does everyone think of the decks covered? What's we miss?

I just finished the podcast and as always have thoroughly enjoyed it.

You missed a few beats:

Bara / NW grinding (location) control, the best pillow fort or tower build

and perhaps Greyjoy / Martell, the obvious Martell cards are so good with  Greyjoy, stripping icons for UO, cheap green icons, more stealth but aside from those two decks I don't think you guys missed alot.

It is really interesting to hear how people all have their own playstyle but in the end for the most part have people agreeing with Aaron, Greyjoy isn't  strongest of houses but if you are not one for the Bara or Lanni playstyle and like to be pro active Greyjoy can certainly be effective. Their builds are also quite tricky to get right. And I am glad to hear that others have also looked at Greyjoy NA, as I think it is actually better than Fealty.

I was really interested to see one of the control builds involving Targ/Martell that got referred to in Episode 222, I didn't see one of those posted (and I don't use agot cards where I believe the original was posted). I would really like to see how strong such a deck can be at this stage.

VonWibble, check out the Targ thread, I posted a list there and talk about it a bit, I think Alex K and Glazer also spoke about it here.

That is a peril of doing a hundred or so episodes talking about the game with the same handful of people. I've certainly noticed that our viewpoints have become much closer as time has gone on.

Editing as I go along:
I... don't think I agree on the critical mass. I mean, yes - I think Bara is near critical Melisandre triggers, which we can call critical mass. But that means not that you can't print more, but rather that printing more doesn't improve Melisandre directly.

I would agree with that. She caps out at a certain point since you can only trigger her once per round.

Good episode, folks. Glad to see Kyle and Tommy back.

Re:the Bara discussion. What FFG will likely need to do is print a good version of Mel that pushes whatever secondary theme Nate dreams up for the Stags. Perhaps something along the lines of the 1.0 unopposed/dom Melisandre. Or perhaps a Mel that focues on pushing power challenges (synergies with the Red Keep) This would force Bara players to decide which theme will be prominent in their decks, based around Mel.

This is why I hope that the Bara box is the of the first two deluxes we get. We need a big influx of Bara cards ASAP to spice the faction up and, more importantly, quite a lot of the complaints about Bara kneel.

Ps. I am looking forward to seeing all of the White Book folks (minus Aaron :() next week!

Agree with Roy, I really hope to see a power manipulation Melisandre!

Alternatively, Stark and Targ with stand modules are good candidates for the first box.
Love Tommy for the Danger Zone set up !! (and the pre-Danger Zone as well)

As requested, let's do some decks that work.  In this case, it's more "work" as I share Martell to Baratheon - the best I can come up with using what Martell is supposed to do:

I'm sure I missed it, but do we know that are not expansions(big boxes) coming. And as I wasn't around for original, why do they do them and not just keep releasing chapter packs. Also I commented late on the last episode, but I think it would have been good to talk about plots that fit those decks and then counter decks/cards to the build. And lastly, I had a nice run in this last OCTGN tourney with a Martell with GJ support. I only put in the 3 stealth guys and shipwrights. All to speed up the Viper. Worked really well, Rob used it on his stream

Rumor has it, the first big box is Stark.  We cover plots and what kind of deck they fit into in episode 222, but if you want anything specific along those lines, please just ask here?

Also, impressive.  Most can't seem to get Martell to work!

Great episode guys! Lots of ideas bounced around but what I think is really exciting about the game (2.0) right is that many players are trying interesting combinations (tier 1 or not) just to learn the deeper card interactions and plan for the future.

I really don't mind when you agree especially after doing so many eps together - it just makes sense. Though, it wouldn't hurt to play devil's advocate a bit with each other.

I look forward to next week. I think there's something interesting in Martell banner GJ - but it might take more than the core set for that.

My thoughts on the NYC launch tournament along with my deck list:

http://www.cardgamed...ck-mini-report/

I'm curious why do big box expansions? Just to more cards out faster?

I listened to that cast, I was thinking specific plots for these specific builds but no worries. Also I posted late in your last cast, maybe next week or the week after, but: Counters to those decks, cards, plots, type of deck. Or maybe even matchup review: like Stark is good against ?, but struggles with ? and why. I think that could be great info for beginners. B/C if you hear lots of people are playing Lanni, and Lanni really struggles against Burn, you may bring Targ to the party.

The Martell with GJ banner is really fun and i think will only get better. If you get 2 stealth guys and Viper by turn 2, its hard to lose. Then you drop Doran turn 4 or 5 with Edric and Viper and a little game (little bird on Asha) and its good night, next, lol. Most games that I got Viper out by turn 2, he would have 4-6 going into turn 5 and that's w/o Seal of the Hand. GG is a great staler if you can't get pieces quickly. I actually survived GJ assault bouncing Balon and Theon as I had 2 GGs. I was down 11-3 in that game and game all the way back as their renown dudes going back to hand is a nice catch up ability.

That's part of it, as is having a clear evergreen vs rotating set of cards, but I think the real reason is to be able to say "You like X Faction? Buy the core and this Deluxe box, you'll have solid foundations for a deck!".

Kido - On answers: I don't think it's that binary right now.   The meta is, right now, defined by Baratheon.  Your deck has to beat it, or at least have answers to it, because it is everywhere.  I tend to think Lannister and Targaryen have the best answers to Baratheon, and are a bit ahead of everything else because of it.  Lannister vs. Targ can go either way depending on plot choices/who sees what.  Stark is good against Bara, but I think loses to top Lanny and Targ.

Deluxe boxes, to me, are largely a way to get the size of the card pool up to snuff quickly.

The Lions do have some pretty great banter in the books.
