Is there a file explaining the draft format in detail somewhere? Or was it basically what you explained in the cast?
What in god's name? It's almost as if you have other things to do besides this podcast, Will. I must have misunderstood your comment.
I have written a 5 page document on the rules format. I, unfortunately, left the file on my work computer instead of transferring it to my phone, so when Will uploaded the podcast, it wasn't available for him to upload. My bad.
I'm interested to see the rules format once you post it. I like the idea and thank you all for your work on it. I think what's most attractive to me is going in on the purchasing of the cards together in a group and either keeping what you draft or divying them up afterwards to help supplement collections. I know in the 1.0 drafts that I played alongside newer players that drafted some cards just because they didn't own them and wanted to keep them. It adds a fun element to it.
I would love to see some groups organize events like this and their local FLGS offers appropriate discounts on the product. even knocking 10% off the retail price of 3 cores + 3 chapter packs drops the total price to less than $20 per person. $150 dividen by 8 is about $19 per person.
I have a question, acknowledging that I haven't yet seen the document. Did the open knowledge of your opponent's draft pool diminish this experience? In the standard draft you don't really know what your opponent has selected (in 1.0, i.e. "Is he/she the one who got Valar?" etc.). Plots in particular would be problematic wouldn't they? How big a pool did you each draft (average amount of plots, average amount of cards to use for your pool of 60)?
I think it increases the excitement because it creates a more open metagame. Hate drafting has more "clarity", as you know exactly who you are hating on. The games themselves will be different because you do know who has what cards, but I don't think that will detract.

Regarding the sound quality, I kept hearing something that sounded like another person speaking very softly while the main person was talking. Not sure if that was a recording issue or actual side conversations going on. There were also a lot of Skype/email/facebook notification sounds this week.
Do you have any idea what Wednesday the draft recording would be on? I'd definitely be interested, but whether I'd be free on a given wednesday very much depends on the week.
Approximately 5-6 weeks from now. It depends on exactly how long Will's break is for wedding stuff.
My wedding break is two weeks.
As for the sound quality, my apologies, Lauren. I'm not used to having Greg in the same room as me, so a few times I forgot to mute before saying something as an aside to him.
I think I build like a Cersei and play like a Queen of Thorns, if that makes sense. All my favourite moments in Melee involve talking though, for sure!
