Actually the old Threat from the East TLS combo was broken with the wording errata on the card, but it was restricted later because of another combo. This combo was Stark maesters using TMP to thin their deck then getting a first turn setuped maester, citadel law and Bran to do plot cycling trick. Counting favors -> Rule by Decree -> Threat from the East means that your opponent was left with 1 card in his hand in the first plot phase and emptied drawcap. The deck at the time was able to do it consistently enough and mostly crushed all KotHH decks like the old and easier TLV - Threat combo. Now this new Podric lets you do the same combo, but with less moving pieces so there might be something that they will do to it at somepoint.
Wierd, I never did hear of it with the Counting Favors trick. I always just heard of setup TLS, then pre-plot Citadel Law into RBD to knock them down to 4, then reveal Threat From the East as your actual plot choosing discard first. Prior to the errata, you'd attempt the discard and be unable to. Your opponent would discard. Then since everyone didn't successfully discard, no one would draw and you had 6 cards to your opponent's 1. Then, the errata changed it so that the clause resolved separately for each player, meaning that if you tried this trick, your opponent would have successfully discarded and so would draw back up and have 4 cards in hand. So, I thought the errata stopped that version of it. What am I missing that allowed Threat + TLS to still be broken with the errata?

Also, glad though, that I'm not the only one a little concerned that Pod opens up the same sort of possibilities.
You are correct that the Threat TLS was fixed with the wording. What I meant was that the problem was that other combo which used one more plot rotation and Counting Favors, no TLS needed. You can still do it, but with TMP being restricted you don't get the deck thinning to make it as consistent as it once was. Counting Favors negates your opponent from drawing the 3 cards from Threat since they are already drawcapped.
Kennon, Kennon - did you just change the "publish" time on your cast by 3 hours so your cast would show up on the top of the page after I posted ours?

Tsk tsk.

Edit: Hah! Caught in the act, the scoundrel changes it back?

@istaril: I would argue that you releasing a Bonus episode the same day 2C1C always comes out is no less scoundrel-ish.

With that said, I enjoy both podcasts alike and appreciate the work you all put into this.

@awritt - He's just having fun with Kennon. He doesn't really care. It was an easy observation he made so the door opened to poke a few jabs at him. Haha.
Where can i find the hard previews for this set? It's not up on cardgamedb yet.

Kennon, have you seen Halestorm live? They toured with Shinedown a few years back and that's still one of my favorite concerts.

I'm only looking forward to a few cards from this pack, but I really want them - Podrick, The Orkmont Reaver, and LIV should be fun.
Did Kyle imply that there's a window in between stealth and declaration of defenders in which you could trigger the warship? Because there absolutely is not.

Also, did Darryl just give multiple quality cards a D then give There Are No Men Like Me an A? Not that's as unforgiveable as broadcasting rules misinformation, but still ;).

Nope, I can't say I've seen them in concert, Scantrell. Good to know that it's worth it though.

Hmmm... I didn't remember that exact part, JC. I'll have to double check what he said. Kind of an odd statement, so I bet he meant to say something about using it before stealth?

Also, I think everyone is missing the most important issue brought up in this episode- "I'm a duck!"
Kyle did say you could trigger Iron Island Marines after stealth, which is indeed incorrect.

Still listening, but the highlight so far is Darryl drooling over that Bara card then giving it a D. LOL

Yeah, I was as surprised as you guys at some of Darryl's ratings...

On the other hand, am I rating locations too low this time around? Particularly curious about the new Stark locations.

Welcome to my world. There is no real logic to the madness. the darryl rating system: D=amazing, F=unplayable, C=I might play it, B= you can't go wrong, A=eh its ok I guess.

I think the new Stark locations suck except the Children's Tower which is a fine "plan B" for a Stark deck in a bind. Though for what it's worth I do think the gold one is slightly better than the +1 STR one, just because necessarily to get the +1 STR you have to have fewer characters to take advantage of said +1 STR, whereas if you get extra gold then you can spend that on things other than characters, so it has less innate anti-synergy with itself.

It still sucks though. Why couldn't it be something like "+X STR, where X is the difference in characters" (only worded better obviously), or "reduce the cost to play any location by 1 while you control less characters" - actually significant boosts for going so against type. Maybe it would've been OP, I don't know, but those two cards seem insanely lame right now to me.
I think you might have used that quote at the beginning before.

Just being "that guy" ;)

Great podcast as ever, and nice to see Darryl is back - and from his first words on clear form!
Ha, yeah, it's getting harder and harder to find good quotes that we haven't used before. When we first started the show, I probably should have started a spreadsheet that I could use to come back and check on in the future to see what had already been used.

Good point on being able to spend that gold on non-character options, JC. Stark does have some solid locations that will help your characters participate in multiple challenges or muck with the opponent's ability to keep characters in challenges. I can't help but feel though, that the overall idea would be much more effective if Stark had some sort of Red Viper style character to carry the banner, so to speak. Is it worth trying some kind of Conquest deck to take advantage of some of the Martell tech? Probably not in the end.
Pretty much anything Dolorous Edd says is good!
Though I think you have used 1 of his before...
I am also a duck !

I actually have used Green Dream with moderate success so this new event should be solid as well. Just my opinion however.
