4 voices is one too many IMO, especially when you disagree, which leads to that the most intresting parts are the least comprihensable. It´s great that you have increased the cast, but perhaps consider that someone is sitting out when all four are available. Thanks anyway for a great podcast.
I'm glad that Aaron finally brought up the fact that Lannister doesn't actually have more gold than every other House. It's this giant misconception that has little basis in reality.
4 voices are ok ! the more the merrier
I haven't yet heard the arguments, just firing up the podcast now, but I would say Lannister did, if not does, have a gold-generation advantage.
It may be slightly less true now, but the fact that a- they can use characters as potential remedies to their gold curve b- they have access to increased levy, which combine to make c- they can setup a great +gold than anyone else, giving them a gold advantage that can potentially build on itself rapidly, but also d- they had more reliable draw, so were likely to more reliably put income cards on the board even if their cost balance, for early-game purposes, was the same, and e- their game-plan tended towards the longer, so gold generation was favoured over seas and 'burst' reduction.
While this may not inherently be a stronger resource presence with the current larger cardpool, it does mean that relying less on reducers and more on gold gives Lanni an edge in playing locations/attachments.
Edit: Darryl, Wicked Seductress. Awesome. Awesome.
For this card to be worth it, imo you have to get at least 2 uses out of it.
I don't mind Daryl trying to keep the podcast on topic. The game-related digressions are awesome - make casts out of them and I'll listen eagerly! They get in the way on the CP review though. I don't mean this to be the dig it's inevitably going to sound like, but Beyond the Wall basically gave as much content, review-wise, in half the time. I don't regret listening to 2c1c at all, because all the discussion is still really interesting, but the side-discussions probably belong as separate segments for future casts.
Or keep going as-is, I love it anyway!
(Also you guys have some weird opinions. Hardly new though
)
I typically find cp reviews to be among the least interesting episodes on both shows, so I'm happy when they stray. I also have an hour-long commute twice a day, though.
A pet peeve I've had for a while with the grading system is going to be more relevant if cycling is introduced: stop downgrading unique cards because a better version exists. Just grade them on their own merits. If an A+ version of a card exists and they release a new B version, it won't see play but that doesn't make it objectively worse.
Dany's Favor on Horse Lord would make him not count his own STR.
Ah, but he could then defend and stop essentially any challenge.
agree, chapter pack reviews are the least interesting. Each card has it own rating, all depends on deck type, so in theory it makes no sense to rate them at all
Personally would prefer for the topics to be focused on specific problems.
like: "tricks to improve the draw"
and then experts can say about some cool tricks for draw in each house
e.g. the one with Fishmongers square + desperate measures (brilliant!)
I totally see where you're coming from but with 4 hosts now each episode is becoming longer. I think if we let all of our side discussion go that episode could have easily gone 3 hours...but if you guys want that then I'm sure we will deliver! Also if there is a side discussion that we cut short during an episode and you would like us to continue or elaborate on it feel free to email us or tweet fb or whatever and we can focus on it for a future episode.
Just to offset other opinions, I like the CP reviews, and despite what I implied before it's particularly for the discussion. I like hearing the excitement levels for new cards and how much these players I respect greatly and Aaron are looking forward to using them in decks (or otherwise). But listening to you guys for three hours straight or more would be rough
.
I'll probably come back to the Lannister discussion later, but as far as the show goes, I'm sorry that the CP review isn't everyone's cup of tea, but the tricky thing is that some do like. On about any aspect of the show (hosts, length, topics, etc) I've had people tell me that factor X is one of their favorite things and then other people tell me that the very same factor X is one of their least favorites. Even here in these comments we've had both sides represented. It's impossible to please everyone all of the time, sadly, so the best that we can do is try to vary it from week to week. So, while the CP review episode may not be your flavor this week, perhaps next week will be.
Though, just for giggles, I ran some numbers (granted, I simplified since the technical difficulties throw them off some) and it seems that our hosts spend roughly 1.5 minutes per card, while BTW spent roughly 1 minute per card, per host. When you break it down, that's not so bad, really!
Also, I still want cp reviews. They just tend more toward boring generally (though this was a particularly good one.)
Don't change a thing.
Both podcasts occupy unique spaces, and I love them both for whatever they add to this game.
I honestly can't wait until Monday mornings when they both pop into my podcast feeds because I know I'll have at least two commutes that don't suck giant Ds.
Darryl vs Aaron on twitch? Yes please.
Could even be its own 2C1C spin-off...1 Shagga, 1 Jamie
I like chapter pack reviews. They keep players like me who only play a little more up to speed.
