An apt description of the sound quality.
The hour flew by. More deckbuilding episodes!
Ok, now I do really notice an audio difference. That was MUCH better this week, guys.
Plus, I like the look of this deck.
Great episode. The deckbuilding ones are always fun.
Here are my initial thoughts:
Kingsroads aren't good with Rivers because you'll rarely attack first due to the low initiative. I'd either replace them with Roseroads or add another Flea Bottom (it's not limit one per deck and it syngergizes with Ghaston Grey).
I think you have a few too many characters to make effective use out of the Red Viper and The Aftermath. I'd cut a couple chuds to make room for 1 Scourge and 1 Lost Oasis.
Another option instead of Rivers is Negotiations, so then you have room in the plot deck for Power of Blood and Forgotten Plans.
Other cards that deserve a mention: Playing the Part, Compelled by the Sun, Shores of the Summer Sea, Dorne Loyalist (yes, I know he's taboo, but you've got Harmen Uller...)
I'll stream a couple games with the deck next week.
Completely agree on Lost Oasis.
I am surprised at how few events are in. I tend to run around 20.
Patience and Retreat are both events I like a lot. Bonus points for use with Ricasso. Rumours of War is a very potent strength pump and especially powerful on Arianne.
Coldhands always fits as does Zollo (though I dislike Greenblood Merchant more than most so would cut all 3, always face seas/chambers when I get them).
I also prefer the 4 cost Doran, ideally I go second to get the benefits from him then have the option to Ghaston him when making a chump attack if no defenders are declared to ignore the penalties.
I didn't realize just how much I missed deckbuilding episodes.
Nicely done guys! And to echo what others have said, the audio is much improved over the last several episodes.
Not sure if I should post my thoughts on the deck in "genuinely helpful" form or "obnoxious troll" form.
In case I go with the latter, just want to say now I really enjoyed the 'cast, felt really tight and the audio was a major improvement, and it was a cool topic and while I have some...issues with how it turned out, I think the deck is a good one on the whole so it should be valuable for people looking for ideas too
.
I'll second (third?) the comments about sound quality - so much better! Organization seemed really good too, cast overall was very tight, and I'm excited to hear you guys'll at least occasionally be able to rope the old champs in.
If I had one (minor) comment it was that if I hadn't already known what Aaron was proposing for a segment (the reprint, repackaging) from our own episode and recent discussion, I would have been rather confused. I think it should have been defined first. However, I'm pretty interested to see what you guys come up with!
Oh, and props and slops was a touch long
.
Coldhands. Damn you, phone typing.
Thanks for the Prop Kyle !! It was a fun deck, thanks for the help !!.
Also, fun episode, have not had a deck building one in a while and it was a refreshing change of pace; the audio was a 1000x better; I still miss Darryl; keep up the great work.
Played this at local league night with only one change: Bastard of Godsgrace to Coldhands (only because I don't have Bastard). Games were against Lanni HoD Tunnels, Targ HoD Dragon Pit, Stark NA and Lanni NA. I went 1-3, losing barely (11-15) to Tunnels, winning against Dragon Pit and then losing to both NA's in about 5 plots both. I really like this deck, it is fun to play even though I didn't have great success with it.
